Would you use a dropside Bellini crib from 2005??
My sister in law is willing to give me her crib for our new baby. It is a dropside Bellini crib manufactured in 2005 that my nephew barely slept in. To use it or not use it - that is the question!
I will add that my DD sleep in the crib that I slept in as a baby at my parents house (dropside). I think I feel that "things aren't made like they used to be" with that one and that's why I am OK with it.

No I wouldn't use it. Could you all Bellini and ask if they have a conversion kit? Though, I'm not sure if they are even making those anymore.

DS is still in a dropside crib that is 14 years old. I guess I am stupid or just don't have the same fear in me He is big (almost 3 1/2 years old) and he has never once been able to to push hard enough against the side to get wedged between the rails & mattress.
So FOR ME...I would.

I have a Bonavita Chloe crib we got in 2004 that was used for my first 2, and its a drop side. In excellent condition. I will be using it for my 3rd! There's nothing wring with it. And as far as I know, it was never indicated in a drop side recall issue.

I was offered a dropside crib from 2005. I was able to call the company and get a conversion kit. But have since decided to get a new crib. if you like it and want to save the money I would call Bellini and ask about the kit.

def not unless you could get a conversion kit for it. would def not risk it. esp with the prices of new cribs-they can be affordable-even if its not a bellini.

I would call the company and make sure it wasn't recalled for other reasons besides the drop side issue.
I will eventually be putting my DS in a drop side crib here when he is older and not in a bassinet.

Re: Would you use a dropside Bellini crib from 2005??
I would call and see if a conversion kit is available. If not, I would not use it. DS crib was a drop side. We ended up getting DD a new crib. I just felt for my peace of mind the extra few hundred dollars was worth it to me. I never wanted to live with the what if.

Re: Would you use a dropside Bellini crib from 2005??
I have a drop side crib from Bellini from 2006. When I used it for DD #2, Bellini came to my house to deliver her furniture ,and secured the crib with some screws or something, so this way it can't drop down. I felt totally safe. I actualyl never ever pulled it down with DD#1 and would not have even any idea on how to do it! I would call Bellini and ask if they have that kit.

No, there's a reason ALL dropside cribs are banned from being sold now. Even if another child used it and was safe, no guaranty that your new baby will be as lucky.
Drop side cribs pose a strangulation issue. At the very minimum I would suggest getting the conversion kit if you absolutely have no other option. But without it, no I would not use.

Teddy had a drop side and when I had Andrew they were starting to ban them in other states and for 500 I got piece of mind while Andrew slept safely

So FOR ME...I would.
DS slept in a crib that is about 13 years old. He recently moved to a toddler bed, but I had no problems keeping him in it. The crib is so well made that there is NO possible way for the side rails (both sides dropped down) to come apart. They were on rails that even with a screwdriver and elbow grease, we had a hard time taking apart. I would be more concerned about the slot width and the fit of the mattress than dropside rails, IMO.

I wouldn't and I have a Bellini drop side crib we purchased in 2008 but it has since been converted to a toddler bed so when DS#2 came along we purchased a brand new crib.

mine too! My crib was from Cornet. I had bought it 12 years prior for my second DD and I kept it. I just moved my DD to a regular bed she is 4.
