Wow: L&D All Day For PreTerm Labor...(Long)

Hi Gals,
I'm 36 weeks exactly today and started feeling terrible lower right side back pain on Monday night. By Tuesdsay AM I looked at DH and told him that I needed to see a doctor immediately. I called the midwife and she said it sounds like Kidney Stones. So, off we went to L&D to rule them out. Once we got on the monitors, it was obvious that the lower right back pain was contractions...and strong ones at that. But, still so weird that it was centrallized to the one side. IV fluids to try to stop them, but nothing else. 2 hours later, they discover that I'm beginning to dilate slowly. At around 9pm, the dilation didn't progress at all and they discharged me to home at 50% effaced and 1cm dilated. I slept well and haven't had another pain since then. I'm chalking it up to dehydration. But, wanted to let you know that contractions take on many forms. I was shocked that these pains were actually labor pains. Does anyone know if Pre-Term labor that stops on its own means that I'll deliver early? I'm due 12/9.

PS: To Anyone who is delivering at Stonybrook.....The nurses were incredibly kind and helpful. I couldn't have expected better care.

I would say that there's no guarantee you will or won't go early if the pre-term labor stopped on its own.

I have several friends who went to L&D early with pre-term labor/contractions but they went at least a week past their due dates with their first babies.

With this (2nd) pregnancy, I've been to L&D twice with what I was SURE was labor but was sent home both times....I'm due today but it's not looking like the little man's coming out on time.
