Wrong Sex?
I'm posted this on the pregnancy board as well, but was anyone's sonogram tech wrong in telling them the sex?
I found out at 25 weeks that is a girl and the tech said there were 3 slits, in the pelvis area which is why she is sure its a girl.
However, my family keeps making me nervous saying it could be a boy...you never know.

Re: Wrong Sex?
My tech was correct but I have heard stories about the tech announcing one sex and then finding out they were wrong on delivery day.
For my pregnancy I wasn't completely convinced so every sono I had I asked like five times if they were sure it was a girl. They never said 100% but they were 99% sure. I still didn't believe it until delivery day. When people would ask what I am having I always would respond with "they tell me it's a girl."

Did you buy girl things or did you still keep in neutral?

Every sono I always asked but at my 20 week sono when the tech told me what the baby was, she froze the screen and pointed out to us what she was looking at. There was no doubt she was a girl.

Re: Wrong Sex?
As soon as my mom found out I was preggo she went on a crazy shopping spree. She bought blue, pink and neutral. When I had the sono I called her and told her to return the blue stuff. As the pregnancy progressed I had dreams about having a girl and with each sono they confirmend it was a girl. Ultimately I gave in and did a girly room but I always had that "what if they are wrong" feeling in the back of my head. THANK GOODNESS they were right!
If you are really concerned wait a little longer and see what the next sono reveals.
Good Luck

Re: Wrong Sex?
I don't know of anyone personally who was unexpectedly surprised like that...but I did once hear that if they tell you it's a girl, that it is more accurate than if they tell you it's a boy. The reasoning is that when there's "nothing" there, there's "nothing" there, but if they see "something," then it could be the umbilical cord, something else floating in the amniotic fluid etc.

Re: Wrong Sex?
I know it happens, but I think more often than not they may tell you its a boy and then at delivery its a girl. If your told girl, more often than not, they are 99+% correct. I asked at every sono to be sure it was a girl. PLus we had two sonos in 3D at my docs office and you could tell very easily.

Re: Wrong Sex?
I've had 3 boys, all three sono's said boys, so I believe most of the time they are correct.
