WW Grocery Help

I am starting Weight Watchers tomorrow and I'm running out to do some food shopping. Besides fruits and veggies, what are some things you ladies recommend that I pick up?

TIA!

Re: WW Grocery Help

Eggs
Skim milk
2% cheese slices (1 pt each)
Chicken breast or thighs
Ground Turkey
Lean steak
Some sort of low points cereal - I like Special K Protein Plus
Instant Oatmeal packets - Apples & Cinnamon are 2 pts each (be careful some are 3)
Frozen veggies
Nathans frozen french fries - 2 pts a serving and YUMMY!
Corn is great right now and low in points

Ummmmmm I am at a loss. I always have a cupboard stocked with all sorts of beans, brown rice, whole wheat couscous, quinoa - but that's not to say you can't have regular rice or couscous. Also always have chicken stock (99% fat free).

Take your points calculator with you and have fun exploring. Look for things you would normally buy just check the points and see if you are willing to spend the points on them or not. The beauty is nothing is off limits so just shop how you normally do and just try to get the lighter versions of your favorites and cut out any junk or things really high in points.

Also look up some recipes you might want to try and maybe plan ahead for the week.

Have fun!!! Chat Icon

Do you have etools? There are a lot of great recipes there. If not you can go on weightwatchers.com and check out the community boards. They have recipes posted there as well.

Good luck!

You might also want to get some desserts or snacks that are low in points. I like
Jello fat free- sugar free instant pudding
100 calorie packs
Skinny cow flying saucers
Weight watchers ice cream bars- the latte fudge bars are so good and only one point

Treats like this help keep me on track- sometimes I just need something sweet. HTH!

Re: WW Grocery Help

Arnold's Sandwich Rounds are really tasty and much more satisfying than WW bread, and are only 1 pt.

Microwave popcorn like SmartPop is a great thing to have in for a snack.

If you look in the Kosher section, check out Dr. Praeger's Spinach, Broccoli, or Potato Pancakes. They are only 2 pts. each and are great to use as an alternative to other starches at dinner.

Not everyone likes it, but cottage cheese keeps me fulll. I like Friendship's 1% no salt added.

Experiment with some of the Morning Star Farms or Boca Burgers - some of them are pretty good!

Good luck! Chat Icon

Re: WW Grocery Help

I sweat by the crystal light individual packets. They help me drink alot of water. I mean I love water in general but the "white grape" is fabulous. I can drink an entire bottle in maybe a minute.

I would also get the I can't believe it's not butter spray. I LOVE it!!!! I put it on everything... english muffins, all vegitables...etc.

I also like the Fat Free American cheeses. I can't taste the difference at all!! Neither can my DH.

As far as snacks are concerned... well thats my achilles heal. I need something to snack on so I get the 100 calorie mini muffins....the coffee cake is great. I also need to buy light chips or else I'll cave for Doritos so I buy Lays Light chips or Pringles Fat Free. They are only 1 point for 15 chips. Love them.

GOOD LUCK!
