WWYD? Job Related...NEED ADVICE!
This is a long story, so I will apologize beforehand and also thank you for listening and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have been teaching in Brooklyn for three years, it is a 2.5 hour commute EACH way. Two years ago I had an interview at a district 45 min from my house and it went REALLY well they offered me a demo immediately...however things got tricky...I got engaged that weekend and then that Monday my fiance was told he was going to have to start working in Manhattan...anyway after MUCH MUCH MUCH stressing I turned down the demo because we thought we were going to move into the city to be closer to both our jobs...
Anyway, he ended up not going to the city and works 5 min from our house. In the two years since, we have gotten married and bought a house and now this district has an opening again. When I declined the demo the principal called and said she was disappointed but understood and "to please let her know if my life ever moved back to Long Island".
So today I went to the school to drop off my resume...the principal REMEMBERED me from 2 years ago and said she was very excited to see I was interested and would DEFINATELY be calling me in the next 2 weeks for an interview.
HERE IS MY PROBLEM: I am 9 weeks pregnant and due Nov 10th...is this wrong to interview and take the job when I will have to take at least 6 weeks in November? My plan is not to say anything until the job is offerred and then explain this was not planned. I would have received tenure in the city this year and did not expect this job oppurtunity to present itself. WHAT SHOULD I DO?? PLEASE HELP?? Should I not apply? But I've waited 3 YEARS for an oppurtunity like this!!! and anyone familiar with the job market on long island with teaching knows how rare this is.....please help!!

Sorry I don't have any advice but I want to say that my friend accepted a teaching job when she was 16 weeks pregnant and did not tell the principal. Needless to say, the principal was not happy when he found out but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to survive. She was unemployed and desperately needed a job and health insurance for her kids.

I would apply for the position and maybe tell them when the offer you the job. that way you are not lying to them, so they might be ok with it. it's only 6 weeks which is nothing in the scheme of things .i'm sure principal will understand you were not expecting to have a job there

Don't tell. You don't want to risk not getting the job and you are not under any legal obligation to tell them. Just make sure you dazzle them once you DO get the job.
It's just 6 weeks of needing a sub, and God knows there's long lines of people needing that position- so think of it not as taking away from the school, but GIVING to someone who needs a subbing position.

If they offer you the position I would tell them then. I wouldn't NOT tell them because you do not want to start off on the wrong foot in that district.

ITA..but you also gotta do what you gotta do.
I'm not a teacher but I commute 2 hours every day to downtown and it's not fun. I recently started working from home.

When they offer the job, then tell them.
This is an opportunity to better your quality of life. You have to go for it. But sadly you cannot be up front before they offer you the position. Because even though they can't legally tell you they turned you down because you are pregnant, that could happen.

Absolutely go on the interview and wait for an offer.....then tell them. You do not have to disclose that info and while it's illegal for them to use that info to base their decision, they most likely will and never even have to offer you a real reason why they'll pass you over.
Women have babies every day, they'll get over it.

I wouldn't mention until you get the offer. My sister is looking for a teaching job and would happily take your job in Brooklyn
