wwyd: # of embryos
I am sititng here trying to fill out the consents for my IVF cycle because I need to hand them in this weekend before I start stimming.
Since we did a back to back cycle with my FET, I didnt discuss with my dr the # of embryos to put back this time.
I did a fresh IVF cycle...put back two perfect embies: BFN
FET1- 2 good embies and got DC
FET2- we were SUPPOSED to put back all 3 but only one made it through the thaw- BFN
So now Im doing a fresh cycle. Should I just put back two again? I am going to put a call in with my nurse to check, but was wondering your opinions.

Re: wwyd: # of embryos
It's such a personal choice. DH and I are going through the same issues now. We can't make a decision until we know how many embies make it to day 3 or 5, but we are going back and forth between 1 or 2.
Sorry, I am clearly no help. But I do look forward to responses from everyone else.
Good luck with your cycle!!

Re: wwyd: # of embryos
Maybe you can leave it to see what the quality of the embryo's are ??
I know you have to put a # on the forms, but maybe you can communicate to your RE what your wishes are pending fertilization

Re: wwyd: # of embryos
how can they ask you to commit to that on a form? there are too many factors that go into this decision.
I would talk to your doc.

Its not written in stone, but I guess more of what our wishes are of everything goes as planned and the embryos are good etc.

Re: wwyd: # of embryos
My first question would be, how old are you? If you are 35 and over I would definitely go for 3 if you can (though 3 on a 3dt, actually I would do more if you have them if you are older). If you go to blast I would only do 2. Though again it would really depend on the quality you get and the number. And you wont know that until the morning of the transfer. I would call your RE the morning of transfer, because they can get in touch with the embryologist and find out the grading, and discuss it with your RE. Then you can make a better decision.
For now I would put down 3 on a 3dt and 2 for a 5dt. Thats my opinion though. Like you said you can always change it.
I changed mine on morning of FET. Went from 2 to 1. I also had them frozen in separate straws so I could do this if I wanted, but I put down 2 to transfer on my forms. Of course everyone and their mother called me on the way to transfer. Giving me a slight heart attack as I kept thinking the little emby arrested. But, no, they were all concerned because it differed from my forms (why they didn't communicate I don't know, it was the embryologist and my RE that had decided one might be better for me...but whatever they were at least paying attention).

Re: wwyd: # of embryos
I dont even remember having to put a number down on my forms
I actually found out from my RE the day on transfer how many she was putting in so I didnt even really have to make a decision.
