WWYD re: fever...
We are currently at MIL's house in Lake Grove (we live in Queens) -was going to give Troy lunch and he was fussy and refusing to eat (SO not like him) but he'd been fine all day. I felt his head and he was burning up (he had a temp of 100.1 yesterday), so I change his diaper and checkl his temp (rectally) it was 102.4. I gave him Tylenol and put him down for a nap.
I am not sure what to do. Should we watch his temp? What if it stays the same or goes higher? Should I call Ped's office (which is in Queens)?
TIA!

Re: WWYD re: fever...
If he's eating and drinking fine, I'd just watch it for now. Maddie had the same thing about a week and a half ago. Her fever fluctuated between 100.7 and 102.7 for almost 2 days. I had called the PED after about 36 hours and they had me bring her in.
All they did was confirm the fever, check her ears, nose and throat, proclaimed it a "virus" and sent us on our way with indtructions to alternate between Tylenol and Motrin.
ETA: Just reread and saw he was refusing to eat. See if he refuses his next meal, then naybe call the PED.

If no liquids have been ingested call the ped.

Re: WWYD re: fever...
I would watch and make sure plenty of fluids. Thats not really that high. If it goes up to 103 or higher def. call the ped. My boys have always gotten very high fevers. They are frightening, but very common in young kids.

Re: WWYD re: fever...
when i took josh to the dr. they checked his ears and for strep but all was fine. they asid his throat was red and it was probably a virus. i'd put him in a luke warm bath if he still has a fever (maybe right before bed), keep him hydrated, give soft foods like applesauce in case his throat hurts and give him motrin at night if his temp goes up.
hope he feels better!

Re: WWYD re: fever...
He is 13 mos. has been drinking very well (which is what made me NOT freak out) after his nap, temp was 100.1.
He did eat some peaches, but was not his usual "FEED m"e self
