WWYD? regarding letting someone else drive your DC
OK...so my 80 yr old grandma lives with us and helps out with the kids...plays with them, bathes DD, is a 2nd pair of hands when I have to go somewhere with both kids, etc.
Well, now that DD is 2 1/2 she wants to take her places in the car.
DH does NOT like the way she drives and does not feel safe allowing this.....
And while in NY, my dad told me she nearly got herself killed pulling out into traffic on 347.

I personally would not let an 80 year old drive my child around. I hope that doesn't sound horrible but I would be to nervous.

No, there is no way I would let an 80 year old drive my DD around ever. No way, especially if she's a bad driver.

not that she is a bad driver.....it's just that sometimes she doesn't "listen" or "hear" what DD is saying to her. She has trouble unbuckling car seat closures and booster seat/stroller clips, etc.
how do I say no to my grandmother??

Nope, no question about it, I wouldn't allow it, sorry. Just sounds too scary to me. Go with your gut feeling.
I'm impressed that she thinks she has the stamina to take the kids out & about with her though.

Re: WWYD? regarding letting someone else drive your DC
My MIL wanted a car seat for Mother's day and I wasn't thrilled about that. I got it for her anyway b/c of emergancies god forbid.
My point is I am not 100% comfortable with anyone other than me and DH driving the babies.

I would not let her drive the kids around and I would blame it on DH. I always do that with my family, I blame Leo and he does the same with his family, he blames me.

I won't even let my own mother drive DD in her car. I've seen how my Mother drives and while I love her to pieces, I don't trust her driving skills with my child in her car

Re: WWYD? regarding letting someone else drive your DC
As long as someone is a safe driver, I couldn't care less how old they are. My mom drives my kids around all the time, and I have zero problem with it. But since you said that your grandmother is not the safest of drivers, I would feel uncomfortable.
It's really tough to say something, and I honestly don't know what I would say. You don't want to offend her, but you have to do what you think is right.
