WWYD regarding summer child care?
I went from having no options to having 3 options for summer child care
I have a DS 2.5 and DD 5 (she is entering K this year). Currently both DC go to the same daycare but once she graduates PreK I need to switch her to their summer camp program which I am not doing.
here are my choices -
1. pull DS from daycare for the summer and have someone come to my house and watch both of them - Time would be 8-5:30 My concerns with this is DS I feel is behind in maturity and speech (I did get him evaluated but he did not qualify). After being there for over 2 years we still have weeks where he cries everyday when I leave (this week happens to be one of them).I feel if I pull him it will set him more behind and mess up his routine and I may never get him to stop crying when I leave (though really I am not sure even if he does stay he would stop crying )- this would be all summer except maybe the last 2 weeks which is when I would put DS back in his daycare and put DD in camp at a tae kwon doe place where she will be going to before and after care during school so she gets used to the place
2. keep DS where he is. Send DD to a 6 week all day (8:30-5:30) outdoor camp and then the remainder 4 weeks should be going to camp at a tae kwon do place (they do activities besides tae kwon doe, go to the pool, field trip once a week, plus activities on premises) time would be 7:30-5:30- I am not sure how I feel about DD being out for that long out side. do others send their child to camp that is outdoors all day? If it rains camp is closed but I can work from home that day or get someone else to watch DD that day (this is the cheapest option because the first 6 week camp is not as expensive as the other camp) Also for both camps we worry about the pool aspect because DD currently does not know how to swim ( I think we will be getting her swimming lessons)
3. keep DS where he is. Send DD to camp at a tae kwon do place (they do activities besides tae kwon doe, go to the pool, field trip once a week, plus activities on premises) - Concerns is just swimming as in number 2 Time would be 7:30-5:30

WWYD regarding summer child care?
I would choose #3.
Option #2 seems like a long day for her.

I would do 2 or 3. I would not mess up your son's schedule given your concerns. I picked 2 just because I think the variety of camps would keep your DD interested and I think kids like being outside in the summer.

Ah ok....if that's the case, then I would pick #2. So she can experience both camps. I wouldn't pull out your son.

I would do option 2. That is great she is outdoors. She will come home very tired and have lots of fresh air. I guarantee she will have a blast. My sister and I went to camp many years.
You mentioned camp is closed if it rains, are you sure? Our camp was never closed. We just had movie day or bowling or whatever when it rained. As far as swimming, we both learned to swim in camp. And we both started camp in kindergarten. We are both very good swimmers now (and had no experience prior).

yes the camp is definitely closed if it rains and if it rains while she is there I will have to come pick her up.

Re: WWYD regarding summer child care?
For me, anything that closes when it rains would be a no-go. Option 2 sounds the best to me.
