WWYD (Regarding taking DD to classes etc)
I'm going to a music class today with my DD. She's 6 months old, so I don't know how much she'll "get" from the class but I figure it will probably be fun. If I like it, I can sign up but its $150 for 8 weeks.
On Fridays, at the library they have free storytimes, playdates, and when I go to workout, they have free babysitting at the "daycare" part of the Y. All of this stuff is free.
So, would you say the free stuff is "enough" interactions, fun stuff etc for a 6 month old? My schedule is packed already, but I want to do "some" stuff with her. (I should add, our babysitter that comes 2x a week brings her 2yr old and they kind of "play" together) Or would you pay for the music class too--which is not free and takes up time where I could be reading (she usually naps at this time).
Maybe I should stop thinking and see how much she likes the class?

Exactly
Honestly, at 6 months, what's best for her development is just one-on-one time with you, talking to her, reading to her, singing to her, etc. And, some independent play by herself. The classes are definitely fun, but sometimes I think they're more for mommy than baby

I would do the free things now and save the paid classes for later. I enrolled DS in mygym when he was 10 months. now he is 16 months and still going, it's an 88.00 a month bill

I agree...I feel there is plenty of time for classes like that..esp if you have all the other options as well! For the price , when you have cheaper options, I would wait until she could appreciate it more!

I agree...I took DS to a free infant class at the library when he was 6-7 months old, where they sang songs, etc. It was only a half hour...but it def was more for me to ge tout and socialize and I did meet some nice moms who I still speak with today. I waited till he was a little older to pay for a music class and just enjoyed my time and interactions with him
