Lois Heymann ...expensive but I am considering getting an eval by her. She has emailed me and extremely knowledgeable.
I am also looking into Listening Therapy which is usually given by an OT.
Good luck because I find that communication disorders ....auditory processing and apraxia are so overlooked or misunderstood. !

Re: X-post: Auditory Processing Disorder
No recomendations, but, as the article stated, APD is freqently not diagnosed before age 7 because many skills required for the assessment are not developed before age 7. But that doesnt mean you cant apply some methods of informal "treatment" before the diagnosis. As stated in the article, among other things, make sure your child maintains eye contact and ask him to repeat back instructions to ensure he has understood, eliminate extraneous auditory distractions, etc. Good luck!

Thanks!
The only thing is from what I'm reading children with APD have a limited vocabulary...that is not really the case for my DS He has a good vocabulary, knows colors, shapes, recognizes numbers and some letters....he just has a hard time processing, putting together and understanding the vocabulary that he has.

Do you have a really great SLP to work on pragmatic language?

I really happen to like the SLP. I think she is a good fit for DS.
Do you have a recommendation? I am always open to suggestions.

Re: X-post: Auditory Processing Disorder
A good fit is most important. Just make sure she;s working on pragmatic skills. I just read Sound of hope by Rosie O'Donnell's SLP - it had some good info.
