x-post: lingering cough after upper respiratory infection
I posted on health but thought some of you ladies might know...I know a few of you had bad upper respiratory infections while pregnant lately.
I have had this phlegmy cough for a couple of weeks now and can't seem to kick it. No fever, no sore throat, no cold. And I am not coughing constantly all day, it's off and on, but I have these coughing fits where I cough so hard that I see stars and it hurts my chest. My dr. gave me z-pack but I am wondering I should go back to the dr. I hate taking meds while pregnant. I really can't take cough medicine b/c I have bad anxiety and mitral valve prolapse so I dont feel comfortable taking them. I dont know what to do to get rid of this phlegm that is sitting in my chest

Re: x-post: lingering cough after upper respiratory infection
I have been coughing my ENTIRE pregnancy. I am 36 weeks and lately it's been bad again. I have been sick in the past with a respiratory infection. I'm coughing right now. I'm hoping that it's going away after baby is born - hopfully before.

Re: x-post: lingering cough after upper respiratory infection
I have been coughing since my second trimester started. It sucks...I know exactly what you mean--that phlegmy persistant cough. No remedies, I've just chalked it up to yet another result of pregnancy that I'm assuming will go away around October 3rd (my due date)

I think if you still have phlem, then I would call your Dr & explain what is going on. he might need to give you a stronger antibotic

Re: x-post: lingering cough after upper respiratory infection
Hi Crissy - I was sick when you were & now I have the same thing. I'm back to feeling 100%, but I still have this weird & bad cough left over from being sick. It's so hard/deep that I made myself sick once & I usually wind up with headaches and/or nausea after the bigger fits. What's weird is that (TMI alert) I'm not really coughing up any nasty phlegm anymore...not like when I was sick, but I'm coughing harder now! And all for these lil' bits of almost clear phlegm. It makes no sense I'm going to give it another week to clear up and then I'm going to call the doc if I still have it...
Feel better
