Re: X-posting here; IKEA kitchen cabinets?

I hate ikea and I will never buy anything there AGAIN. Dh had a dresser there that fell apart within a few weeks. it was garbage. Customer service sucks.

DH's friend had a bed from there that was sh** too.

our moving company had a special disclaimer they ask customers to sign if any of their furniture is from IKEA b/c you literally cannot move from one place to the next w/o having problems. I guess they had so many issues with IKEA furniture specifically that they had to have a special disclaimer.

I would check home depot or lowes for cabinets.

Not sure about Cabinets themselves but am interested in getting some closet stuff so I'll follow your thread over there.

I've had the same Ikea dresser for 8yrs and 3 moves.. solid as a rock. meh. Same for the armoire, my daughter's dresser, her storage unit, computer desk we had, coffee tables, sofa and TV unit. *shrug*

I tagged you in my facebook photos so you can see.

We have no complaints. Our entire kitchen is Ikea. It cleans real easy, and no defects.

We had our own contractor install it all though.... even our appliances are Ikea.

And a wardrobe in our bedroom.

I love my cabinets in my kitchen and bathroom. They look awesome, hinges have never needed adjustments, cabinets in bathroom are wood, and kitchen wood and frosted glass with stainless trim. Love them. So easy to clean, look brand new 3 years later. Nobody believes me they are ikea. fm if you want pics.

I don't agree with this at all. They have different levels of quality and the op was asking about the cabinets not furniture

To the OP, I think the quality is excellent for the price. My mom has the wood cabinets and she loves them and they are holding up really well.

Re: X-posting here; IKEA kitchen cabinets?

k, i don't have experience with the kitchen (having my own kitchen would probably help with that Chat Icon )

buttttttt

my bedroom furniture is ikea..it's going on 7 years now, with no problems at all. it's honestly fantastic.

rob's furniture is from ikea also, and is even older.

needless to say, if/when i do own a home, ikea is going to be at the top of my list for everything

Our kitchen is ikea, we love it. I was really hesitant bc we had furniture from there that was crappy. But the cabinets are actually rated in the top 5 from consumers. I have pics in my album, but should post more recent ones.

Dh assembled and installed , and he had never done it before- they look great!

I would have to agree. My old job made a kitchen with Ikea cabinets and they stood up well. I think if you make the right decision with the right cabinets for your use you will be ok. G/L

Re: X-posting here; IKEA kitchen cabinets?

my BIL is a contractor and installs Ikea cabinets in NYC apartments all the time. He said sometimes its semi high end apartments since its a basic kitchen stock (no upgrades) and said they are great.

Re: X-posting here; IKEA kitchen cabinets?

Go with Ikea if you :

- like the more contemporary look
- don't mind cabinets made with MDF
- don't mind putting alot of pieces together or hiring someone to do it before installation

But don't expect Ikea cabinets to save you much money. My bro got Ikea cabinets a few years ago and while they are ok to me, it's not my style. He paid 4k for this 10 cabinets. I went shopping for my own kitchen remodel and actually got a price of 7k for 17 Kraftmaid cabinets from a wholesaler. You'll see the price is not that different and Kraftmaid is a better box...
