XPOST - Wild Berries - ok to eat?
Anyone know how to tell if random berries growing in your yard are ok to eat or poisonous? I thought I heard something about if animals eat them they are ok. (however I haven't seen the deer touch them) all of a sudden this year I have berries growing on the side of my driveway in the viney mess thats been there for years, never a berry. Here are pics, I wonder what they are... closeup

I first thought it was mulberries but those look like blackberries since its growing as an aggregrate fruit. The pic below is of blackberries.

Re: XPOST - Wild Berries - ok to eat?
My guess is wild raspberries since they are more round than the blackberries. Should be OK to eat, but if you're concerned take a clipping to a local garden center and get their opinion. They should be able to tell you more.

You could also check with your local Cornell Cooperative Extension. They are usually very helpful with that sort of thing.
