I would, definitely, keep in contact with the family. Let's not forget, that those children are blood relatives and need all the support they can get.
As far as the low-life, cheating, sewer scum of a relative of mine, it would all depend on the relationship we had before he decided to sink to the lowest depths of humanity. Then again, after what I had to say to him, he might not want to have anything to do with me. B@stard!!
