xpost from careers-retail
If you work in retail, what is the "going rate" for pay?
Do you always have to commit to weekends?
thanks!

Re: xpost from careers-retail
I did for awhile and went back to p/t work last yr.
Yes, most require weekends, pay uh depends on where...I was around $9.25/hr. I hear VS, Bath & Body works places are like $7 and up.
bed bath and beyone pays well, $10 or so.

Re: xpost from careers-retail
I have owned a retail store for the last 8 years and I have paid my girls: summer help, usually pretty young - 8-10$, my main girls 10-12$ and weekends were a MUST since that was our busiest time.

Re: xpost from careers-retail
I did Gap in 2003 and was paid $10. I had prior retail experience tho.
I did it through the holidays and did mostly weekends and nights.

Re: xpost from careers-retail
I did, for three years.
I worked for bloomies and their pay is commission, 10 % of what you sell and you have to meet a minimum to sell, if you don't meet that, then it was 8 per hour.
granted I only worked three times evening hours and weekends.
this was before I had my daughter.

Re: xpost from careers-retail
I actually just interviewed for a PT position (I thought would be more than it was). It was retail, $10 an hour. That is just not worth me spending my evenings & weekend time on.

Re: xpost from careers-retail
It depends where in retail. I earned close to $20 an hour in a luxury retail jewelry store (and this was at the store, when I worked there).
$12 in PB back in 1999.
It totally depends on your experience too...
ETA: Weekends and holidays are def musts...it's the name of the game in retail, sadly.

Re: xpost from careers-retail
I interviewed at Target. Just to do weekends and maybe 1 night / week for extra $.
They only paid $6.25/hour and the discount was only 10%.
I said "no thanks".

Re: xpost from careers-retail
since I am new to GA and really have nothing to do- I was thinking about a retail job to keep busy- I went today to fill out an application and they already called me back, but they told me it was going to be $8.00 an hour-weekends are a must-
The only times I really get to see DH is on the weekends, I really only wanted to work Mon-Fri... oh well
