XPost from pregnancy: 36 weeks & anxious...Can anyone share their experience delivering with Dr. Porte, Dr. O'Keefe, Dr. Welischar, or Dr. Lochner?

I posted this on Pregnancy, but thought I would get more responses here. Thanks so much!

I am currently 36 weeks and am getting anxious about labor and delivery. Just got back from my appointment and am 1 cm dilated an 50% effaced. I am getting very nervous. I haven't exactly loved being pregnant and am happy it will be over soon, but I am scared of delivery and recovery. I am praying I don't end up induced and/or with a c-section. I have seen all the doctors in this practice at least once but have tried to stick with Dr. Lochner--love her and am hoping she is the one on call when I deliver.

Today I thought I would go to one of the other doctors in the practice that I haven't seen since about 9 weeks (when something happened I just didn't like and have avoided seeing since) just to "show my face" again before this baby decided to come. Again I had a poor experience and I feel like this particular doctor is not very personable and we just would not gel well. Anyway, I got into my car and just started crying (hormones, I know) thinking I really don't want this particular doctor delivering my baby. I tried to give it a second chance, but it didn't turn out well. It might just be me, because girls on LIF have recommended this doctor.

Has anyone had delivery experiences with any of the doctor's in this practice? What did you like/dislike? Did they acknowledge what you wanted? How was their bedside manner? I have a feeling Dr. Lochner will be wonderful, so I am really concerned about the other 3. Please share, maybe it will put my mind at ease a bit. Thanks!

I have no experience with these doctors but something similar happened to me. Both times I was pregnant, there was that one doctor I did not care for, did not like their bedside manner, did not make me feel comfortable etc. Since I went into labor on my own I had no choice who delivered me. Wouldn't you know it was the only dr I didn't want that was on call!!!! But to ease your fears, it really doesn't matter. The labor nurses are the ones who are there for you for the majority or your labor. The Dr comes and checks you a few times and is there to catch the baby! I swear I think I spent maybe 15 minutes with the dr and when you have your baby in your arms at the end of it, it really doesn't matter which dr delivered him or her.

Dr Welischar delivered DD and she was amazing. I was fine with any of the dr's delivering DD bc I really liked them all ( the only one I never met with was Dr. Lochner), and it just happened that she was on call when I went into labor. HTH
ETA: Dr Porte wa originally going to deliver DD but I was sent home when I was going to get induced bc the hospital was too packed.

I use a practice that rotates their on call times with this practice. I had an emergency in the middle of the night and Dr. Porte was on call and I liked him. ETA: My OB later told me that Dr. Porte delivered my OB's children.
