XPost from pregnancy. Question re: infant daycare

How far along were you when you started to go to see daycare facilities? How many did you check out? Were there a lot of places with waiting lists? Is it true that many of them do not have part time programs for infants?

I found this to be true. I didn't put DD into daycare until she was 8 months old. I think I started looking when she was 6 months.

I didn't see anythat had pt for infants, because you're taking up a crib in the room and they can't rotate it from one day to the next

Re: XPost from pregnancy. Question re: infant daycare

I live off of LI so it may be a different "scene" in terms of waiting lists...but we started to go when I was 6 mos pg and daycares were like "come back 2 months before you want to start daycare". The baby would have been a month old at that point. I thought "isn't that late" but I guess it's too hard to anticipate if they will have an opening more than 2 months away.

As far as I know many will do part time programs but I guess some wont...depends on the place. You can definitely ask!

Re: XPost from pregnancy. Question re: infant daycare

I am wondering if I have to start calling around earlier to figure out who may offer part time. I'm not ready to do this yet but I'd love to put my mind at ease by finding out what options I have.

Re: XPost from pregnancy. Question re: infant daycare

My son was born in december and I started looking in nov when I was pregnant just to get an idea about the facilities around my job. I went back in april to look/enroll my son and some of the places had only 2 days available (I needed 3 starting in September). My suggestion would be to look asap.

DS is in daycare part-time. We're in the E. Northport, Commack area and I found a few places that did part-time care for infants. FM if you want details.
