Yay...I got the pictures back!!!!
Yesterday was Jared's christening and we had a great day. We took loads of pictures on the digital camera. When I got home, I uploaded the pictures to the computer and was looking at them, they came out great. About 2 hours later, I go back to look at the pictures and I can't find them.
Because so many people like to use our computer (family, friends), the destination that the pictures were sent to was not MY folder, it was another folder. So my wonderful DH decided to do a little clean up on my desktop and DELETES the folder that had all of the christening pictures in it. So now everything I had is gone... I had the best pictures and I cannot believe they're gone. The pictures also got deleted from my camera when they were transfered to the computer...
Now...is there anything I can do to restore my computer to get these photos back? Can I reset it somehow to an earlier time when I still had the pictures on my hard drive? Or do this mean that I'm out of luck?

stef- something similar happened to me when i was on my honeymoon. I took great pictures but decided to format my camera on the way home and lost everything. a girl on liw gave me a website that i could use to recover my photos and it worked!!! i dont know what teh website is unfortunately b/c it was on my ex husbands computer but i found a similar website..good luck!

Could they be in your recycling bin or did your DH empty that too? I don't know if you can go into the accessories -- system tools -- system restore and go back to a restore point before they were deleted. Good luck, I'd be heartbroken like you!

My husband deleted it from the recycle bin too.
Would that work if I could restore the computer at a specific point during the night when I know the photos were on the computer?
I'm also using that program now Kristi, thank you...I just downloaded it...I'm so desperate.

let me ask my DH...
okay, he's asking his coworkers who are also in IT...
right now, the only thing he can think of is for you to go into your computer registry, but he doesn't recommend it because if you mess up, you can damage your computer...
Do you have a program like Norton Go Back? If you do, you CAN go back to a point where you had the pics...

OMG Stephanie...that $ucks!!!! I know the feling. Dh and I took Marissa to Disney last year & we had taken about 100 pics that were in the computer. Well our hard drive crashed and all the pics were lost. We only have 2 pictures left. I copuld not stop crying.

A system restore typically does not affect personal data files - which is what your pictures were.
My recommendation is that you purchase, borrow, or download a data recovery program. Until you do - try not to create any new files on your computer or install anything new. When files get deleted, they are not truly gone until the block of memory they were stored on is overwritten. Therefore, with every new file you create, there is a chance you are overwriting a space where a picture is. When you get the software, install it to different drive than the one where the pics were deleted from, or run it from a CD or USB drive (most are small enough to run from a USB drive).

I know that there is a way to restore your system to the way it was a day ago or so...from DOS i think it is like c:/system:restore something like that. maybe do a google search

I am so happy for you!!!
When BIL's and SIL are in town we disconnect our router and tell them the net is down because they gave us a virus two years ago so I know what a PITA it is to have people on your computer!
When I upload mine I make sure I immediately put them on Kodakgallery.com and pray that if we loose them on our computer that they will atleast be on there but I am so glad to hear you were able to recover them!!!
