I am so sorry you went through this! But you handled everything perfectly. There really isn't much you can do during a seizure except make sure your child is comfortable and cannot hurt himself/herself during it. And sticking things in their mouths so they don't swallow their tongues is a big mistake--no one swallows their tongue--it's a fallacy.
So you did what you needed to, made DC comfy and safe, and called 911. You did a great job!

I hadn't been online in a few days and just came across this post. I am sooo sorry that this happened to Josh (and to you) but it sounds like you were amazing under pressure and did exactly what you needed to do for Josh.. you are a great Mommy!
I'm glad he is doing so much better now, but man how scary that must have been for you to see him like that  And I too learned something new from this board and from your post about fevers spiking (or dropping) too rapidly
Big hugs for you both, hope Josh and you both never have to go through that again

Holy cr@p! I'm just seeing this and it brought back such terrible memories. I'm so sorry that you and Josh had to go through this- I know how terrifying it is. You just feel so helpless and afraid. I am so sorry you went through this. A couple of years ago I was watching my sister when she had one. At the time I didn't know what it was. Thought she wasn't breathing, wasn't responsding was scared to death. It seems like you really kept your cool considering the situation. Hope your baby is feeling better.

the same thing happened to my newphew when he was around a year old. It only happened one time. and everytime after that whenever he got a fever she immediatly gave him a dose of motrin. its scary, but not uncommon. and he will be fine.
