What is your questions exactly? Which is better? There are huge differences between those districts size being one of them. I would need some more information to answer.

Re: Yet...ANOTHER question....schools...
My husband teaches in Sachem and is very happy there. It is a HUGE district! 12 elementary, 4 middle schools and 2 high schools! I don't know about the other two districts.

There have been tons of threads about this, and I think the question lies in what you are looking for in a district (strong sports teams, small district, etc). You can find the Newsday rankings/scores/% graduating, etc. online, but as people often point out, those numbers are not entirely accurate.
Personally we are avoiding any houses in Sachem because of the large size of the district. Of the three I would choose Hauppauge or Connetquot (probably Connetquot), but others have great things to say about Sachem, and they have a wonderful special ed. program that students from other districts attend. Sachem also has very good sports teams, but because of the large size, I feel like students may not have as much of a chance to compete on teams since the school is so large. Sachem encompasses some areas that are less affluent like Farmingville, and from what REA have told me, these areas bring down the test scores so Sachem I believe does not show up with as high Regents scores as Hauppauge or Connetquot. I do know that in terms of Regents scores, in the last Newsday list I saw, Connetquot was the same as Smithtown but reversed in the scores for math and english.

Both Connetquot and Hauppauge are wonderful. Sachem is pretty good too, just very big.

Re: Yet...ANOTHER question....schools...
my son is a graduate of Connetquot. I loved the elem. school & the Jr high(now the middle school), I was less impressed with the high school but overall it was good.

Sachem is a huge school but they have split it up. It covers a lot area. I am graduate of Sachem, lived in farmingville which is a descent area, like any area has good and bad. I think it really depends on what you are looking for.
Connequot and Hauppauge area great. They are much smaller districts. It depends on what you are looking for.

You can also go on the New York State Dept. of Ed website & pull up their "report cards"
keep in mind, greatschools & NYSDOE does not give the whole picture

I agree.
I would visit some schools in each district, go to a board of ed meeting and etc... to get a feel for the district. It is best to get a first hand experience. Also, ask your realtor. Many realtors have recently attended workshops at the different school districts. The districts provided a presentation of programs within the district and information that people may not be aware of.

We had a bad experience asking a realtor--she has kids in Sachem, and when we said it was too large for us, she got very defensive and called me a racist. Because apparently the minority population is larger there than in the districts we were focusing on, when really we just ruled out Sachem because of size.

Well it depends on the realtor of course. Some people have good experiences with realtors and some have bad. It is like anything.
My point was about the districts presenting realtors with a lot of information about school districts lately. Many realtors should be much more informed about the districts than previously.
