Yoga/Meditation for stress relief

Hi All!

I am trying to find a class by me (I live in CT) for Yoga or meditation and there are so many different classes, having a tough time trying to figure out what would be a good type of class to take that helps with breathing, stress management and just improving overall anxiety.

Any suggestions on a type of Yoga or is meditation better? I am new to this, so any clarification is good too-I am also open to book suggestions as well!

TIA!!

i'm an avid yogiChat Icon unfortunately my teacher has been on hiatus and i am frikin devoted to him so i wont attend until he's back!!

but to your question, if you've never done yoga before you really need to make sure its for beginners. some postures in some classes with certain instructors are a bit much for the newbie!!

so you have to do your research re: the level of the class, get some feedback if possible from other people before you attend.

yoga is AMAZING for relaxation and de-stressing. once the class gets rolling i'm so focused on my body movement and breathing everything else falls awayChat Icon

I would try Hatha or Ishta Yoga for stress relief. The poses are taken slow and breathing is paramount to the practice. I'd avoid hot yoga (the heat scan be stressful if your not used to it) or Vinyasa which is more cardio focused.
