You know what I hate? (Just a vent)

When I'm out with Nikolas and he's screaming in his carrier, I get looks from people. I'm not an inexperienced mom (obviously), I know what I'm doing. I may look young but it's just annoying.

I was at the pediatrician yesterday and he was screaming as I was paying the co-pay at the counter. The lady behind the counter was giving me looks like I should be stopping his screaming. Chat Icon Yeah, let me stay even longer in the germ infested doctor's office so I can console him.

Then I'm at CVS getting Jared's medication and Nikolas is screaming again. Some lady was behind me trying to peek into the carrier and asks me, is he okay?

Ugh...Chat Icon

Re: You know what I hate? (Just a vent)

I remember one time we were at the store with DD in the stroller. She was fine until we were on line checking out. While we were paying, she started to cry. I knew she was hungry, but I figured since we were already leaving, it would be easier to BF in the car than find a place to sit in the store. As we're pushing the stroller out the door some woman says "Pick her up she's crying!" I just commented loud enough to DH, "Yeah, she's complaining now, but this would be the same woman who would react with shock & horror should I sit here & BF!"

Geez! MYOB! It's not like I was walking through the store with her screaming for a long period of time & ignoring her, she started crying as we were paying to leave the store! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Good grief! I HATE that. They look at you like you are abusing them or something.

Shoot even family asks why the baby is crying. Why? Because they don't have words, they can't form sentences and crying is their only method of communication. BABIES CRY!!!!

When Abby cries in public, I do my best to keep my cool. It would not help her if I was a mess being all tense and erratic.

i actually haven't gotten any dirty looks (that i've noticed Chat Icon ) when DS is crying - just some looks of sympathy. although now that he is older he seems to cry a lot less when we are out unless he is hungry, i bet if he cried more i would notice the death stares Chat Icon

but you know what i DO hate? when my DH is holding the door open for me and as i try to push the stroller out of the store i get run over by people who just HAVE to get inside that second, instead of letting me pass. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

So far Joey has been good out, but John was a PITA always crying at that age and of course people making passive aggressive comments in my head I was saying F YOU but I had a smile on my lips and just nod at these a holes. MIL is ALWAYS asking me if Joey is ok? Like if I let others hold him or I dont drop everything and run the second he lets out a sigh DRIVES ME NUTS!!!!!

Do you think they are all giving dirty looks - maybe people are thinking other things that they don't convey and you're sensitive to it bc it's stressful? I hate it when I am out and one of my kids is misbehaving or crying bc I also feel like people are giving looks. However, I have finally come to the conclusion that not all of them are staring in disgust. Of course there are those people who there is no way to misinterpret their look or comment. I am lucky I guess bc I've never really had obnoxious comments from people.

If I see someone with a crying baby or an older one who is throwing a fit or misbehaving, I usually say to the Mom or Dad "Sounds familiar!" just so they don't feel like I'm another person staring or trying to tune it out. Maybe the person who said "Is he ok?" was doing something similar

That was my whole morning yesterday. DD was cranky and just being an almost 2 year old everywhere we went. I swear people stared at me like they were going to call CPS or something. Sorry, I have to drag my screaming child sideways across my belly in the parking lot so she doesn't kick my 7 month preggo belly. I wanted to scream at all of them!Chat Icon

When Bella is being a brat in a store, and she is usually pretty good, I refuse to give in to her.
Even at 3 years old, you still get the stares like ooooh, you obviously cannot control your child...do something to make her stop...blah blah blah.

I hate when your waiting for the elevator (which I have to use b/c I have my dd in her stroller) and someone pushes their way on to the elevator (with no children at all) ahead of you. Or when your trying to get off elevator with stroller and again person with no medical problems and no children pushes to get on and wont move so you can get off.

One lady (again no children no medical conditions) was screaming about how long the wait was for the elevator "when is this thing coming.. its like forever".. um the esclator is 2 feet away!!!! Chat Icon

Really - I found that people are great when he is crying in stores. I was shocked that people were so cool.

I think people (for the most part) try to get the door for me too. I am impressed because I didn't expect much, and was pleasantly surprised.

I can do you one better...

THe other day I am bringing my two children into an office building. I struggle to get the door open for my stroller and my four yr old helps me hold it open. Three women actually walked out the door while my son and I held it for them and kept walking! They obviously were young and probably did not have children...but come on, at least say thank you!

The worst part of it is that if you rushed to stop his crying - you would get looks from people who thought you were spoiling him.....

OMG elevators are the worst! No one ever sees a woman with a stroller. They all just rush off and never hold the door. so frustrating.

I'm so opposite, I'll drop every thing to get him to quiet down .I've lost my place in line once, I"ve pulled the car over to calm him down, and everyone criticizes and says I spoil him. so basically no matter you do, you can't win Chat Icon
