Your diet during pregnancy...
Especially for those further along, how bad or good do you feel like you did?
I think I could have done a lot better. Even today for lunch I had pizza…because it was close and convenient and because I am so huge I didn’t feel like going to get a salad.
I tried to incorporate as much protein as I could, and a salad here and there, some fruits and vegetables, but I admit, I gave into both salty and sweet cravings a lot.
I don’t have GD but I am “borderline” and I try to watch the sweets intake now, as well as salt…but then I have days like today where I will have pizza.

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
I'm 35 weeks, and I can def. say that I wasn't a healthy eater this pregnancy.
If I had a craving for something, I ate it. I didn't really limit myself. Thankfully I wasn't going nuts every day, but just about every day I ate something sweet like cookies, chocolate, ice cream, a donut.
My appetite has subsided a bit in the 3rd tri since I don't have much room in my stomach, and I'm ok with that. I'd just fill up the extra space with bad stuff anyway!
I'm really going to have to change my habits and be strict with myself once this baby comes. I indulge too much and too often right now!

ummm...crap, crap and more crap.
I know I could've done alot better, but I did what I always said I WOULDN'T do and used pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever-whenever. I don't regret it, either.

I could have done so much better I suppose, but it has been a real struggle with food . . .

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
Pretty good I guess. I try to always do cereal in the morning, a healthy snack, a salad or bagel with egg whites or veggie wrap, etc for lunch... but dinner is tough. I'm usually starving when I get home from work so I want carbs so it's usually pasta or some type of chicken with rice, turkey burgers.
I've also been craving sweets towards the end so i've been giving in to that a lot (ice cream, cookies, cake after dinner). But i'm okay with my weight so i'm not making myself crazy.
It's funny b/c pizza is one of the only aversions that stuck with me after 1st tri!

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
Other than beer and sushi I've had pretty much whatever I wanted. Lately I find myself eatting ice cream every day... seems to help with the heart burn. Salads and grilled chicken gross me out now. I have been eatting much more fruit since prior to being pregnant. The biggest problem with eatting lately is I'm too tired to cook and the drive through is so much easier. I've had many cheese burgers lately.

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
I definitely could have done better...my diet has pretty much consisted of carbs, cheese and red meat, and lots of fruits and eggs...grilled chicken has been my major aversion the entire pregnancy.
I also indulge in something sweet every night, I just limit how much I consume...being 30wks though my stomach has gotten alot smaller so that's helped in limiting the bad stuff.

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
I think I did pretty good. Although you can always do better, right?
Some days were better than others in terms of fruits and veggies that I got in.
There were certain things I always made sure I got my servings of daily - water, calcium, protein, etc.
But I haven't stopped myself from eating sweets. If I want it, I get it! haagen daz cookie dough ice cream last night.....yum!

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
I just basically eat what I want, when I want it. However, I have major aversions to certain foods at certain times, and often these foods are unhealthy choices so that has worked out for me.
I take my vitamins everday, drink plenty of water, start the day with cereal and go from there. I usually have my biggest meal at lunchtime (pasta, some kind of sandwich, a chicken roll) and then something smaller later. However, sometimes my smaller meal turns into ice cream (okay, this happens A LOT!)
I haven't gained much weight and the baby is growing fine so I'm not really concerned.

I don't think I was as bad as I know I could have been. I do wish I exercised more. I def ate my share of junk but I am also a big fruits and veggies person.

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
I think im doing ok overall. I eat lots of fruit now during the day, im adding in some more veggies, lots more salad and cheeses (since i dont drink a lot of milk) probably not enough though.
the reflux really just prohibits me from eating like a nut. everyone says this is the time to indulge and eat without abandon, but i've never been one to enjoy eating..and now that i have to think about everything i put in my mouth..i really dont enjoy it.
I do indulge in iced coffees/lattes and some sweets here and there, but overall i think im doing good.
if i didnt have the reflux..im sure i'd be stuffing my face more often...LOL

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
Well the first trimester I can honestly say that the only thing I CRAVED was cheese...oooooooeyyyyy...goooooeeeyyyy cheessssseeee....pizza, grilled cheese every day. I had major, oh my god i could vomit aversions to meat and chicken, so I justified the cheese intake I always tried to have veggies and fruit everyday. Now that I am in my 2nd trimester and home on mod bed rest, I have been a little lax with what I am eating. Breakfast is usually my healthiest meal of the day multigrain cherrios with blueberries, strawberries or banannas. Lunch and dinner is where I go off the deep end...today I had english muffin pizzas, yesterday I had macaroni salad, day before that was potato salad Dinner last night was hotdogs (with macaroni and potato salad again). I still have an aversion to chicken (although I can force it down when I have to) so I try not to make it often. As much as I loved sweets pre-pregnancy, I have really had no craving for it. DH and I went to IKEA last week and I bought a hazelnut chocolate bar and it is still sitting here unopened. DH has asked if he can eat it but I insist that it's "mine" even though I have no desire for it

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
Overall - I think I did pretty good, not great.
Cookies, cakes, and ice cream have been my total weakness.... as well as Doritos and Salt and Vinegar potato chips....
But I have incorporated lots of fruits, veggies and healthier choices for the most part.... and M thru F I kick butt with drinking a ton of water....
On the weekends I tend to eat whatever / whenever.

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
During my first pregnancy after the morning sickness ended I paid super attention to everything i ate and can honestly say i ate amazing.
This time around - Lets just put it this way - I am having pizza for dinner. It's a combination of the morning sickness/food aversions sticking around ALOT longer (I am 14.5 wks now) and just not having the time or energy (with a toddler). I'm ok with fruits and veggies but the thought of most protein nauseates me these days - Also, i am too exhausted to cook 90% of evenings so we are getting takeout alot and now I live on LI and the options are VERY limited whereas with DS I lived in NYC and had tons of good choices. But, excuses excuses...i really do feel bad about this all the time i just can't seem to do better

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
it's early but i am trying to be more conscious of what i eat since i gained 40 lbs with DS, and i should have gained closer to 25 lbs. i ate a LOT of junk - it was a free for all, especially at the end, because i told myself it didn't matter.
now i know it does and i will still indulge but not nearly as much as i did the first time!
ETA: at this point last pregnancy i had already gained several pounds, and this time i am not gaining at all (i might have lost a pound or two) so i am happy overall. i was well above my ideal healthy weight to begin with so i am not eager to gain weight right away.

Re: Your diet during pregnancy...
I am trying to eat as well as possible, but I can't say that it is always working. I am trying to make sure to drink lots of water and eat fruits and veggies, but I am definitely eating too often and carb loading-but I also am trying to find things that don't aggravate the heartburn and nausea. I am trying to restrict the junk.
