This was my first thought too!
I'd also say Gone with the Wind and Can you keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella. Neither were written in 2009, but I read them in this year, so does that count?

It's also YA fantasy so you might like it if you liked The Hunger Games.

When You Reach Me is a book for .. I don't know.. 6th or 7th graders.. but it is so good it makes my teeth hurt.
Grace By Richard Paul Evans was wonderful.
Under The Dome by Stephen King surprised me by making me like it!
Dancing With Butterflies by Reyna Grande was beautiful.

I'll say the Twighlight series I read them all in about a month. Time Travelers Wife and The Pact were great too. I'm starting off 2010 with The Blind Side!!!

Also enjoyed Baker Towers by Jennifer Haigh
