Zappos Rules
I was going through my old order statuses and I noticed I never received a credit for a pair of shoes I had returned in June. Then looking further, I noticed the same thing happend over a year ago. There were other pairs in the returns, so I assumed I had gotten the entire refund. When I cross checked wiht my AMEX, I realized I never got the credits.
I e-mailed them at 11:30AM, an hour later it was completely resolved and I received both credits, no questions asked.

I am a big fan of Zappos too.
I ordered the wrong size boots for my FH at Christmas - they sent me the right size w.o me returning the original pair yet
and it was the holiday season so I thought it would take forever and it took 3 days.
