Boycott of GOYA
This makes me mad and sad. They donated 2 million pounds of food for COVID relief of food pantries. It is the largest Hispanic food company in the country. I think as a country we are going too far with cancel culture.

So you're not allowed to have opposing political viewpoints to the majority if your the CEO of a company anymore? Was there more to it?

No. No more than that. I applaud him for standing his ground. I hope he continues to do so. I added an article to my last post.

Re: Boycott of GOYA
It’s so dumb.. all I see on my FB since yesterday. My extended family is getting annoyed because I said I’m not getting rid of my Goya. Latinos can be so damn dramatic
I feel like this will pass and the company will be ok. Everyone wants to be mad at something.

Boycott of GOYA
Why do people care? If want to buy their products, no one is stopping you. Last week it was Republicans boycotting Papa John's bc they pulled their ads from Tucker Carlson. If people want to make a statement with where they do or don't spend their money, that's their choice.

PS half my pantry is Goya. I’d probably never survive without their sazon or adobo so this is hitting home w me lol

It's called the right to protest. Too bad if you don't like it. Go buy all the Goya off the shelf if you want. You can have mine.

The problem is the inability to accept/respect that someone may hold a different political viewpoint then your own. It goes both ways. Why attempt to destroy a company for holding a different mindset? Cancel culture is sickening and maddening.

Yes it’s everyone’s right, and I really don’t care because i will continue to buy Goya products.
But it’s also my right to think it’s ridiculous, especially when a lot of Hispanic voted for Trump and help put him in the White House.

Ok cool. Well I think it was ridiculous that the president of the United States goes on a campaign against NFL players who peacefully protest police brutality, but whatever. Enjoy your Goya.

Huh? What’s does the president actions have to do with people boycotting Goya? I can’t stand Trump, so I’m not sure what his crazy antics have to do with me thinking the boycott is a little extreme.
Eta: I also think Trump is ridiculous since day 1.

Re: Boycott of GOYA
From what I’ve read, this company does a lot of charitable work for underprivileged areas and to aid essential workers during covid. It’s a shame that one comment from the CEO can undo all of that good work. I personally won’t be boycotting.

The CEO chose to make it political by saying nice things about Trump. Now he should suffer the consequences, as a Hispanic I support the boyvcott. Hit them where it hurts- their wallets.

Re: Boycott of GOYA
How is this going too far? Peacefully choosing to direct your money to companies who share your values.
Protests are wrong. Kneeling is wrong. Now boycotting a food company is wrong?!!!
The only one demonstrating cancel culture is you, OP, trying to trample on people’s freedom and ability to ask for change, peacefully.
And I agree with the others - why do you care? No one is forcing you to stop supporting them or outlawing their products.

Hit them where it hurts...So when business slows down and they can’t pay everyone you think it’s the CEO that suffers? They won’t be laying him off it’s the low level minimum wage employees that suffer

Unbelievable. This country is just going insane. No one is allowed to have an opinion and stand up for it anymore. People just follow others and truly don’t even know why. They need to stop ruining others lives because they feel a different way.

Exactly. People don’t see that until it is them in the crossfire losing it all.

What’s ironic is that many Hispanics voted for Trump. No one openly talks about it, but it’s true. There are a lot of macho Latinos who didn’t want to see a Woman in the White House, also mixed in the fact that he was a celebrity and a lot of people disdain for Hilary. Contrary to what everyone believes, Trump did not get voted in just by “racist“ white folk.
So are these Hispanics cutting of their relatives that supported Trump by voting him in?
That’s why, as a Hispanic I won’t boycott just like I didn’t remove my family members from my life. And yes people have a right to boycott, and it doesn’t upset me but I do think it’s silly when there’s so much other major sh!t wrong with this country.

GOYA...
Oh Boya
I boycott Goya because of politics, yes. Y que?
Statement, peacefully. Peaceful protest culture. Do what's right culture.
Why publicly advocate on a political side if you don't want objections?
I'm not asking anyone to do it, but if I do it, callate la boca.

So does 1 statement by 1 person representing the company undo the charitable work? You’re now against their politics, so does that include their charitable work, their alliance with the government programs for feeding the hungry and focusing on the obesity epidemic in the Hispanic community? Will some more righteous company step up and do this job?

I am the first to say business & politics do not mix. At all. All a business will do is alienate half the population by making their politics public. But, in this case, the man was at the WH for all the good/hard work he and his company has done and did what any gracious guest should do. Which is why I’m glad he hasn’t changed his stance.
Just like some of you say, you have the right to protest or boycott anything, especially as Americans. ... this is true. But this also means, I have the right to say it’s f’n ridiculous and cancel culture has gotten way outta hand. It’s very mean girl-ish. For those who say trump is nothing but a bully, sure like bullying people to do as they say or else
