I read this post every year and every year it gives me the chills... I hate this day with a passion. I can never forget all the emotions I went through... all the ptsd nightmares I endured for the next year. I decided to make new memories with my daughter today. Having lunch with her at school and trying to forget the past, if even for a moment. My 2nd grader is now aware of the horrors of this day. She is now aware of her grandmothers actions that day that kept her safe. She is also aware of the good, the helpers, those who survived and those who didn’t make it- be it that day or many years later... One thing is certain... We will never forget...
