New car - extended warranty?
I am purchasing a new car this week and wondering if "everyone" gets the extended warranty? If you did get one, would you mind sharing how much it cost and if you think it was worth it? (you an pm me if you want)

If you are planning on keeping the car for a long period of time, yes its worth it. If you are going to get rid of it before the factory warranty is up, I wouldn't. They are expensive and the prices are manufacturer/product specific.

I got one when I got my CRV. I think it was for 8 years/ 80k miles I believe it was $3800

always bought my cars new and kept over 12 years an never bought an extended warranty

I didn't. The finance guy will really try to sell you on it. They'll tell you it's a "no-brainer", etc. I would guess a lot of people don't buy it because it's expensive.

Yes. I kept my jeep for 9 years and it came in handy as it approached 70,000+ miles.
DH gets it on his as well because of the amount of driving he does and mileage piles on real quick - plus he always gets upgraded electronics that can go a t any point. Warranty comes in handy if you drive a lot and plan on keeping the car for a long time. Spread out over the loan, the extra warranty isn’t a killer

I got one on a GM car years ago, and it really paid for itself. I had so many issues with that car. I moved on from GM with my next car. Although DH and I discussed not getting it on my next new car 11 years ago (which had very good reliability- so we thought we didn't need it) we were "talked" into it . Still have that Honda and never used the warranty. Needless to say, I did not take it out on my next new Honda.

It's a Lexus. Comes with a 4yr/ 50K warranty. So I think I'm leaning towards not getting it. If I took the money it would cost and just kept it in a "car repair" fund, I think I'd be better off

This. I did for my Subaru. Unfortunately I used it quite a bit so for me it was worth it and I'm glad I did
I recently got a Honda and did not get an extended warranty.

Great move. Lexus seems to be pretty reliable so I wouldn't have bought it either. Congrats on your new car!
