Catholic HS
Anyone went to or sent their kids to a Catholic HS in the area? Any feedback or input? We are currently looking at Holy Trinity, Kellenburg, St. John & St. Anthony's in that order.
We are in an OK school district on the border of Nassau/Suffolk but we think DD will benefit from a Catholic HS setting. So far we did a tour of Holy Trinity and loved it but would like to hear some real life feedback from people with actual experience. TIA.

Re: Catholic HS
I went to Holy Trinity, and I’m a huge fan of the school to this day. I loved the environment, the spirit, and the overall experience. My closest group of friends to this day is from Holy Trinity. In my experience, it seems like a lot of people who went to Trinity maintained close friendships with their classmates.

Thank you. This is very helpful. There was another family on the tour with us and the mom and dad both attended Holy Trinity. They said they had an amazing experience and were looking at it for their son so this feedback is helfpul

You're welcome! Yes, it seems like a lot of alum send their kids to HTHS as well! I remember giving those tours myself as a student lol.
I also felt Trinity had reasonable policies that students wanted to follow to participate in the building of the community there. When I was touring some other Catholic high schools, I remember thinking the policies were overly strict for no identifiable reason. I felt that Trinity cultivated a community of respect without being unnecessarily pedantic.
I loved it so much that I still have my senior sweater

I wonder if I know you lol! Were you teaching or going to school there 2000-2004?
If you don't want to answer, no worries, I totally get it. I am pretty private online.

Re: Catholic HS
I graduated from HT! Loved it, great school but I chose to send my kids to Kellenberg. I don’t have one bad thing to say about Kellenberg. Beautiful campus, great kids, wonderful education and no textbooks only iPads. They were well prepared in March when schools shut down, no delays or missed days. I’m partial to the Marianist education, but take tours of all the schools and decide which one is the best fit. Best of luck to your family.

Re: Catholic HS
I went to sha. My younger sister went to kellenberg and transferred out. My sister was honors and had to take all honors classes, so she was failing some classes but doing great in others, which is a big reason why she left. My high school was individual honors based. I was in honors math but no other honors classes.

Re: Catholic HS
Not in the area, we live in NYC and DS got good offers for public HS (both regular and specialized), but we all as a family decided his best fit was a catholic HS because of their discipline, service programs, and values. I grew up going to catholic schools and a jesuit college, so I believe in their education. DH is another story but even him loved what he saw in the HS DS is currently at. DS is in the honors programs and although sometimes he struggles, he has lots of support.

My husband graduated from Holy Trinity and he's a musician today because of the band teacher at Holy Trinity. He had a wonderful experience there and would recommend it.
