non dairy milk alternative
My kids drink SO much milk. We currently buy 2% organic cows milk, but they drink it plain, with chocolate syrup, in cereal. That's on top of the greek yogurt and cheese sticks that they love and eat daily. I want to try to limit their dairy intake by letting them still have real cheese and yogurt, but cutting out the milk. They are all thin and healthy, but the dr said too much dairy isn't healthy for many people. Has anyone tried oat milk? I hear it is the most similar. Also looking for something that will taste good in my coffee. TIA!

Re: non dairy milk alternative
We only buy almond milk in my house. Cow's milk has a lot of sugar. I find it delicious and once you are used to it it tastes better than cow's milk IMO. For coffee though I use a collagen creamer in the morning or half half or prymal creamer other times of the day. I don't think almond milk would be great in coffee because it's thin. Maybe a full fat coconut milk for coffee.

Are they experiencing any discomfort by drinking milk? If they love it, maybe u can give raw cow milk a try (if it’s possible for u to get it), even better if it’s from A2 cows. Or if u still wanna stick with milk, maybe u can sheep’s milk a try, it’s actually really tasty, creamy, with healthy fats, and without the irritating milk proteins found in cows. If u wanna stay away from animals’ milk, cashew milk has a really creamy texture, MALK is a great brand with clean ingredients.

I would give them water to drink. Most milk alternatives are $$ and 98% water anyway.

This too. We generally don't drink milk of any kind as a beverage. (except maybe with cookies) We use it in cereal, coffee, recipes etc That's another advantage of almond and other plant based milks. They stay fresh a LOT longer than dairy milk so if you don't' use a lot of it, it isn't going to waste.

Oat milk is very different from regular milk imo. It’s a different taste and consistency. It tastes like oats! If anything I’d so almond.

I agree with this. When DD wasn't in dire need of milk anymore I stopped giving any kind of milk. She does like those stony field smoothies and will usually have one in the morning.Other than that, she drinks water.

Re: non dairy milk alternative
i've had almond, oat, rice, cashew, soy over the years. you have to experiment to find the one you and your family like.
like a pp said, try offering water more. non-dairy milks are usually a bit pricey.
wow. this post got me thinking. i haven't had a bowl of cereal with milk in ages!!!

non dairy milk alternative
None of the non-dairy milks taste like real milk. My daughter was a milk/dairy addict. I slowly started offering water, watered down juice. She is now 10 and only likes almond milk- she won't drink a cup of it, but she'll use it for smoothies, cereal, even hot cocoa. My husband likes oat milk- it's thicker and he doesn't like the almond flavor of almond milk. I use almond as well. she still loves her cheese and will eat regular or non-dairy yogurts, as long as they are vanilla flavored.

Yes non dairy milk have a significant amount of water but they still have a decent amount of healthy fats. If the price is an issue, u can def make ur own non dairy milk like almond milk, it’s pretty easy.
