Gifts from Amazon seem to suck
Had a birthday this week, came home and was surprised with an amazon box, my cousin sent me a full bath and body set, lavender. Bubble bath, body bream, soap etc. and a small wooden gift box ( with a nice saying). Last year she sent bath bomb set from amazon as well and it was horrible. No fizz, no real scent.
I took off for my birthday, went back today and found out a patient I've been caring for over a year died on my birthday. It was a rough day, I had a tiny emotional breakdown at my desk today.
Decided I need a warm soak and opened my gift, the bubble bath had no scent at all, no real bubbles, disappointed. (made in china) like everything :(.
I do not shop on amazon at all, but my experience has not been good. Is this the norm for gifts from amazon? I feel bad she spent money on another gift that was not great, except for her thoughtfulness!

Sure u can try but I’m not sure if they’ll be able to do anything since u weren’t the one that purchased the product, unless it’s ur cousin the one that makes the complaint. Next time u might want to try Etsy for those kind of products.

I think you are in a tough spot since it was a gift and u didn't purchase it but normally they are good with returns. I think stuff is just hit or miss. We have gotten some crap toys as gifts from my brother on there, but I never complained

ITA. Except for a very few items (Amazon Echo...), Amazon is just a reseller. They don't make any products.

Yet another reason amazon is destroying our world.
My kids keep getting total junk gifts from amazon too. Toys that break. Shirts that are oddly sized/shaped, etc. Many people don’t look at what they are buying -just pick the top search result and are not getting things from a reputable brand or store who has some stake in maintaining quality.
I really like the soaps and stuff from world market. A lot of imports from France.

This-I’ve never had any trouble with amazon, because I know what products I’m purchasing. If it’s something other than a well known item/brand, and it’s one of the super cheap things, I look at reviews/photos before purchasing.

Another thing I noticed...they steal pics of clothing from legit sites then send you a "knock off" version of it.
I got a shirt once that only vaguely resembled the picture they were using to suck you in. The colors and pattern were the same but the texture and quality were 100% different. Total knock off.
I also once got prestige makeup that was 100% fake. I use this makeup all the time and what I got was a completely different smell, texture, color etc. Never again!
Eta...and yes, it's not Amazon, it's their sellers. I feel like they don't regulate their sellers at all.
It's pretty horrible there

Certain things on Prime are free returns but not everything on Amazon has free returns. You have to check that it says Free Returns when ordering.
In this case yes, I complained and they refunded me.
