Indoor dining
Restaurants yesterday were packed. I passed a few on my way home yesterday, tons of people close to together without masks. I saw inside one and they didn't really look distanced and the parking lots were full. I think that is a terrible idea. I feel terrible for the restaurants, but it really is unsafe. I predict that will be shut down fast.

Re: Indoor dining
I've been dining indoors since June at multiple restaurants. Not one had tables on top of each other. Not one had anyone unmasked. They are all at 50 percent capacity. They are all being very careful for fear of losing their liquor license and theit livelihood. . Not one restaurant I have been in allows anyone in without a mask. Not one allows you to even stand up and go to the door or bathroom without a mask. No spikes have been traced back to indoor dining either. Trust me Cuomo wouldn't allow them to continue if they were an issue. He isn't exactly reckless as a governor
If you are uncomfortable don't go. But these places need to operate. These are people's businesses and livelihoods

Re: Indoor dining
I agree with Nell. Have been going out for awhile too and went out this weekend. Everyone had masks on until they sat down and not on top of one another. Where did you see this?

Indoor dining
Been going out to eat since June as well with now 5 year old in tow. Never once have i felt unsafe. You are supposed to have a mask when walking around but once seated you can take it off. All restaurants are supposed to be 50 percent capacity. If you saw an over crowded restaurant where there was no spacing whatsoever, they may be doing something wrong.

Indoor dining
I've been out to dinner many times (indoors), including last night. The restaurant I went to last night had tables spaced far apart. And almost everywhere I've eaten has had tables spaced far apart. But I have also seen some places (walked by in Huntington and Patchogue) that there didn't seem to be much social distancing going on

Went to Vespa last night and we were commenting at how empty it looked in there for a Saturday night. All tables were taken, but they had so few tables and so much empty floor space with the removal of tables for distancing and capacity limits. I feel terrible for these places. Also, they reminded us when they called to confirm our reservation about their mask policy and also when we were seated we were told again that masks were required any time you were not seated. Most places are taking things very seriously because it means their business and livelihoods if they don’t comply. State inspectors are everywhere

Yes, that is all true - and especially since the 10:00 closing time was put in place. I was speaking to a friend yesterday who knows the owner of a restaurant and the owner was saying that an inspector shows up at least once a week, on any random day, to make sure there are no customers after 10:00. I was at a diner during the week, on the late side and they basically said everyone had to be out by 9:45 - I guess to make sure no stragglers were there after 10:00.
And almost everywhere I have been has reduced the number of tables, which must be really hurting business. It was difficult to get a reservation in Huntington for this past Saturday, I'm sure in part because of the limited indoor seating and weather. The restaurant I went to was "full" - but with many fewer tables and no bar seating.
I went to brunch on Sunday in Northport and same thing - tables spread much farther apart (so fewer tables) masks enforced and time limit on the table. Overall, most places are doing the right thing, for sure.
But I have seen (especially in Patchogue) some places that have had people sitting at the bar with zero distancing going on and one place in particular with groups standing around the bar. Maybe that's changed in the past week or so, but last time I was in that area, it was a little "crazy"

Cuomo just put in new rules, so probably by Monday.
Indoor dining fully closed in NYC, down to 25% in the other regions.

Indoor dining
I stopped at one this weekend for a quick lunch and the tables were so close together, I could reach my arms out to the sides and touch each table next to me. We only stayed because there was no one in there at the start, but it quickly filled up so we took our food and promptly left.

Bad apples will always ruin the bunch. I never thought indoor dining should be allowed, my doctors are against it and yes I feel terrible for business, yada, yada, but maybe if EVERYONE ALL OVER did the right thing, places could remain open and try to hang on for another year. And lots of places don't follow rules...bar by me, business as usual. They don't serve food, it's an old man bar that's open in the am and full . Right behind a police station too.

Re: Indoor dining
I have been out a lot to eat indoors and I will say most are spreading out but not all
I can’t remember where and But we were sitter next to a table where others were seated right next us but I guess since it was plexiglass it was allowed??
For the most part however it’s separated. He just changed the rules again based on the CDC so they will be only able to have less tables soon or close down completely based on the rates!

Uh, because last time I checked I don't make the rules. So if people actually followed protocols put in place by the people who are in charge, we might be in a better position. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm queen of NY and don't know it! Lockdown and vaccines for all!!! Especially the theree Valentinesbaby's on here.
