Re: House Letter

I didn't read all the comments here, but if you haven't tried yet, try posting in the community group on FB. I see it posted just about daily in our groups (our town has like 5 groups lol) and it's worked out for a lot of them. It gets the older people to consider moving.

We've also gotten a bunch of letters. I have young kids in school and I'll tell ya, some of the letters we've gotten have made me consider moving lol. It makes no sense for us to move unless we're moving out of state though. Home prices being incredibly high and the fact that people are offering over market in our area is incredibly motivating. If I didn't have young kids, I'd jump on it. So yeah send the letters, you have nothing to lose by trying. I think the shortened version from the previous post would get a better response. Keep it short and sweet otherwise people are likely to toss it.

I had a woman ring my bell and ask to buy my house. I had recently bought it and declined.

If you’re really interested in this area, I guess go for it.

See I don't know, but that would annoy me.
I can't stand solicitors of any kind. I can't stand anyone ringing my bell for anything at all.
Don't ring my bell and bother me.
You really think I'm going to sell you my house because you rang the bell like a stalker? If anything that would make me NOT sell to you even if I were thinking of selling
Get off my property.
If I'm selling, you'll know by the sign on the lawn.

I def wouldnt be ringing any bells! Thats a little obtrusive lol. Just mail letters

You would probably be plastered all over FB if you did. I find that anyone who shows up on their Ring, who they dont know, gets posted. Stupid really.

Me, personally, I would throw it out. But like someone said, the worst that can happen is you don't have anyone contact you.

But with regard to your letter; you have a lot of personal information in that letter that you need to remove. I did a rough draft for you; if you want to use it or not. I also do not think you should provide your cell. They can find so much information and no reason for strangers to know it. Provide email only. Here is a much shortened version:

Dear Homeowner,

We hope this letter finds you well.

I am not a realtor, I am just a local resident looking to purchase a property in the X area. My husband and I currently live in the X section. With our growing family; we have found ourselves a bit cramped in our home. Although we love our home, we have decided we would like to find a property that offers a little more space for our family. We are looking preferably for a 4 bedroom, 2+ bath home. Basement and Garage are a plus.

This letter is merely an inquiry of interest, in hopes of finding another home in the X area.

We love your block in particular, and if by any chance at all you have been thinking of listing your home, I have included my email below.

If you have no interest in selling, then please disregard this letter.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,
Future Homebuyer (dont leave your name here)
Email: X

This is really great advice, thank you! You're probably right not to include too much personal information.

Re: House Letter

I saw your post and thought it was a great idea. I told my mom to do the same thing. I typed up the letter for her and she is going to put it in peoples mail boxes (she’s in queens)

Recently we decided to get a bigger unit in a building we own in, in Florida. I went direct to management to see if anyone was thinking about selling. Turns out management knew someone who wanted to sell. We are closing soon and we are both saving on real estate fees since we are just using a real estate attorney.

So glad you got a response from your letter.

Re: House Letter

Someone sent us a very similar letter years ago. While we did not sell, DH reached out to the person and I think was able to give him/her some helpful advice. I know they did eventually find a home in our neighborhood.
