balance transfer cc
yesterday, i got home to a cc offer in the mail. they offer 0% interest for 18 months on balance transfers.
i've never done this before.
if you've done this before, has it really made a difference in payoff debt? i don't want to purchase anything. i would like to use the card only for this purpose and then close the account.
thanks.

balance transfer cc
Depends on if it's worth it. If it's a small amount probably not because you will incur a transfer fee and you have to pay it off in a certain amount of time. Your credit may also get hit. You have to be vigilant with actually paying it off and not using the available credit of either card.

balance transfer cc
I've done this. It has helped to vastly reduce the amount of the monthly payment since it was at 0% now. It gave me the flexibility to double or triple payments if I wanted to, or just pay the minimum that month if I needed to as well. It's worked well for me in the past.

Re: balance transfer cc
It would depend how much you are moving and how much it will cost. Typically they charge you a fee to transfer.
I would do it if I knew I could pay off all of it or most of it by the time the promotion ends.
Also if you cant pay it off is the interested accruing and toured going to get hit with all of it once a promotion ends? If that’s the case don’t do it unless you can pay it off or the interest rate is cheaper on the new card versus the original card.

this is why i ask these questions. i know this fact for promotional purchases, but hadn't thought of it for this situation. i'll double check the paperwork. thanks for the reminder.
