Passport for Kids?
Is a Passport required for children to travel? We're thinking about a cruise in September and we'd be taking our 2 and 5 year old.

Passport for Kids?
Yes. It’s required for everyone if you’re leaving the country. And, both parents have to go with the child to the post office to submit the passport application. If one parent can’t go, then they need to submit a form stating that they approve. I think the form needs to be notarized.

Re: Passport for Kids?
Pretty sure you can use their birth certificates as we have in the past but a passport is always a better bet to have.

We needed passports a few years back when we did a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas.

I guess it depends on the cruise line and this was many years ago when my kids were young.

Got it- I wasn't sure if BC was sufficient. It's fine, we'll get them!

RCCL, under the age of 16 can still use a birth certificate.

Re: Passport for Kids?
You don't need a passport on a cruise that begins and ends in the same port in the United States.
We have been on 7 Disney Cruises in recent years, all to the Bahamas and Carribbean that began and ended in Orlando. A Passport was not required on any of them. 16 years and older needs a Gov't issued Picture ID, which can be a DL, State ID Card or Passport. Your best bet is to call the cruiseline though.

Interesting! Thanks- it's an NCL cruise out of NY.
