I've read all of the above already. I thought the book was excellent, the movie didn't do it justice at all. Definitely worth a read, I think you'll enjoy it more.

I enjoyed this too.
I just read Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid and really liked it. I also highly recommend two of her previous books - Daisy Jones & the Six & The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

Re: Summer Reads
This is what I have read since January, some are for my pretentious book club, others are just normal reading:
Crying in H Mart Big Summer The Hate U Give My Sister, the Serial Killer American Dirt Cobble Hill Magic Lessons Night (w my son for ELA) Normal People
I LOVED American Dirt and My Sister, the Serial Killer. Crying in H Mart is good, but rough. And I enjoyed The Hate U Give, Big Summer (easy read) and Magic Lessons.
Normal People was meh
And Night is just a beautiful book
I am currently reading Concrete Rose which is the prequel to The Hate U Give

I'm a little more than halfway through The Great Alone but I keep putting it down because I'm finding it a little slow and meandering. Does it pick up pace at the back end? Worth finishing?

Summer Reads
I recently read the Elin Hilderbrand “Paradise” trilogy. It’s total “fluff” reading but was entertaining enough to hold my interest

Re: Summer Reads
I read Then She Was Gone. That was a good quick read.
I also read A Summer Affair by Elin Hilderbrand. It was good. A little wordy and long but okay.
I read the House on Olive Street. I didn't finish it because I found it boring.
I like good quick trashy romance and suspense type of books. What would you suggest based on that?

That's how I felt about The Nightingale by the same author but I was so glad I stuck it out. The Great Alone is one of my top 5 books ever. I loved it!

I'm halfway through The Nightingale too. I guess her books were just a slow burn. I'm going to have to revisit both and finish them.

Re: Summer Reads
Ones I've read this year that I've enjoyed, I asterisked my faves:
We Are Water**** - it's Wally Lamb, everything he writes is gold
Goodnight Beautiful - psych thriller
The Thursday Murder Club*** - super fun mystery novel
Fall of Giants - WWI historical fiction, LOVE Ken Follett
The Wife Upstairs
Mexican Gothic - horror
We Begin At The End***
The Night Circus*** - fantasy - would make a BEAUTIFUL movie
The Testaments - sequel to Handmaid's Tale - MUCH better than Handmaid's Tale, I didn't like Handmaid's Tale at all (I haven't watched the show)
The Searcher
The Woman in the Window - loved it. I heard the movie was garbage.
