There is some real gaslighting going on here. Nothing is 100% guaranteed. But could you imagine people in the past resisting vaccines and other protective measure, yelling about how polio/smallpox/measles, etc. will always be here? And yes, there still are cases in pockets of the world--there even are some outbreaks (like measles) in the US. But we have herd immunity. We don't live in day to day fear of hundreds of thousands dying or being hospitalized from these diseases. They did not close down schools and public pools regularly when we grew up. They didn't maim or injure or kill many of our friends when we grew up.
This all or nothing, false dichotomy way of thinking is toxic and misleading. You can have the vaccine and still choose to guard against the 5% chance of a bad outcome or against the emergence of a vaccine resistant variant--or any other disease by wearing a mask. You can acknowledge that it's theoretically possible but improbable that you catch covid from a vaccinated person, and still recognize that you and your unvaccinated kids are much less safe around an unmasked, unvaccinated person than around someone who is masked or vaccinated. You may not be able to trace an individual transmission to a particular unvaccinated person, but you can still acknowledge the facts in that article about unvaccinated people being variant factories and what chilltocam and others wrote--about unvaccinated people as a group invariably generating increased spread and contributing to variants as a group.
I don't have to love wearing a mask, or even feel the need to wear one as a vaccinated person to understand the mistrust or vulnerability that someone else may have that causes them to wear one. I don't have to be older or overweight or immunocompromised to take a disease that disproportionately harms others seriously.
And no--depending upon the availability of a vaccine to schoolkids and the numbers and strains of covid circulating--it may not be a great idea to have maskless kids at school in September. We will have to see.
The kids who will be spending all summer with the same children and others at camp and home. The rules make no sense at all. Just like the old restaurant rules. I really hope these children have a choice.
You are so blind to the numerous other VERY VALID points this poster just made to you. Why are you so anti mask? Your kids aren't in this equation any longer as you've stated numerous times. The fact that it is even in question if kids CAN attend school without the devil that is the mask according to you is because WE GOT VACCINATED to achieve that.
She is so ignorant it's maddening. Proof that going to college doesn't make you an educated, intelligent individual. If the delta variant takes hold and really causes a surge in hospitals like it did in India, i would love to be a fly on windys wall. Homegirl is going to lose her shit that she has to wear a mask or socially distance again.

Masks Optional for Summer School
Things never change. How come its the same people arguing back and forth with one person all the time? If you don't like what Windy has to say then ignore her. How hard is that? Got alot of woman with lots of time on their hands and nothing better to do. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and Windy is entitled to hers.
As far as none LIers on here, i know there is a couple but i think that for LI specific questions they should not throw in their two cents. But if its not, than its fine. But again, the forum IS called LIFamilies.
Now as far as masks at school, I hope they don't have to and its only recommended. My kids have been with out one this entire Summer so far...in stores, at outdoor places and indoor places. We just came back from the museum and the mall and did not put one on nor did they. So i think it should be a personal choice instead of forced.

Since you live out of state, what are the plans for your schools?
Ha ha. You are so funny with your stalker self. We get it windy. You can stalk everyone and figure out where they live, who their husbands are and what they do or don’t do for a living. Always making comments just to make sure we know you are watching. lol. So weird.
To answer your question, right now students and staff are still required to stay masked vaccinated or not in school buildings. May or may not change by August 11 when we go back to school, don’t really care as long as they can safely go back in person.
Lol. I find it more odd you would be interested in a board that caters to and has catered to people from LI since it’s start. Unless you move away from the area, it makes no sense.
Again why would you care what she does!!!
You are a nut!!!
Thank you! I don’t have to explain anything to the resident stalker. Maybe I did move from LI, maybe not. Maybe I was absolutely desperate after giving birth to my first DC with PPD and stumbled across this board when looking for support. It doesn’t and shouldn’t matter. If you have to be a current resident of LI to post here that’s ok. I’ll stop and feel grateful to this board and the posters that saw me through the most difficult and scary time of my life. But you already know my story and where I live and probably my great grandmas maiden name by now. It’s weird and creepy how you like to insinuate how good you are at stalking. But since you seem to think I shouldn’t post here bc I’m not currently on LI, peace out looney tune.
lol, have fun. Just odd someone not even from LI would post to a board catering to people from there. I work everyday with people from MO and the midwest and they are great :)
I do feel that they shouldn’t really be posting about situations regarding Long Island specifically (ie what’s going on in our schools, our stores, etc….) if they don’t have any skin in the game or haven’t personally witnessed it for themselves.
Obviously every state is different. Heck, even parts of NY are drastically different. I think that’s a huge part of the bickering. People who aren’t currently living within the issue being discussed have such big opinions.

I'm just going to have to jump in here because this is ridiculous. I've been on the boards for over 15 years now and there has ALWAYS been posters from all over who comment on these threads and share their POV whether they live on LI or not. It's never been an issue until now. For VB/windy to call out anyone regarding where there live is utter nonsense. She is doing it for the sole purpose of being a $hit stirring a$$hole. She's literal proof that living on the island is no guarantee that you will actually have a clue about anything anyway. Judging by all of her posts to date, she's dumb as a rock.
As for the bickering, anyone who is paying attention can CLEARLY see that anytime there is an issue or a thread that goes off the rails VB/windy is right at the center of the drama. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. She intentionally starts $hit with everyone and has proven herself to be a stalking, obsessed weirdo over and over again with MANY different posters. How anyone can still be blind to that fact is beyond comprehension at this point.
VB is the epitome of a troll and has turned these boards into garbage the last few months. The best thing to do with a troll is to ignore every, single comment they make because they feed on the attention whether positive or negative. She's a complete waste of breath and time. Let her ramble, let her obsessively stalk you and just laugh it off. Anyone who is this pathetically invested in strangers on a forum isn't worth anyone's energy.
But you can’t seem to control yourself not to post.

Honestly I am sick of this crap. My kids are at a summer camp all summer at Kiddie academy with no masks. If they have to go back to masks in September I'm gonna lose it. Is the mask mandate over? I have not been wearing one except to go into clients homes...
Technically I do not think mask mandates are over for those not vaccinated and in some situations I think. It’s so hard to keep track anymore
Technically they are not but have only heard people vaccinated saying they still wear masks in public.
There is literally no way to police who is vaccinated and who is not in every day life- like walking into stores, etc.
I’m vaccinated and bring my mask out with me incase I’m in a store and people are up my ass or breathing in my face. Can still get it - vaccinated or not. “Should” be more of a mild case, but I don’t want that shit again even if it’s a sniffle. The after effects are almost as bad as the disease itself. I just now stopped smelling cigarettes 24/7. Some food still tastes bad or is tasteless but it’s getting a little better over time.
As per my teacher friends, all day sept will most likely be with masks. Especially with new variants floating around.
The variants are just like every other virus though. If someone wants to continue with masks, then they should be allowed. At this point the kids should have an option.
If we are going to use variants as a reason to wear masks, be prepared to wear masks until kingdom come because EVERY SINGLE VIRUS mutates and has variants. When this one is under control, the next one will come out. That's what viruses do to survive - they mutate. How many variants of flu are there? So if the argument for masks is variants, this will go on forever. Be ready to wear a mask for the rest of your life
This exactly. That’s the nature of a virus. When people bring up that the unvaccinated are the ones causing mutations, shows me how little they know how viruses work.
People have actually said that unvaccinated people are CAUSING variants? Where did you hear that said?
https://www.businessinsider.com/unvaccinated-people-are-variant-factories-disease-expert-says-2021-7
And this article is wrong exactly why? Tell me what you know that is more on point than the infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt U. Medical Center (you know, sub-par, poorly rated medical center )
I answered the posters question.
And you also said "It is easier to blame someone as that is how this world works." - indicating that you don't believe being unvaccinated has anything to do with the spread of variants. You've made your position clear but aren't willing to support it - once again.
Yep they are getting blamed while they could have gotten sick from a vaccinated person. No one really knows.
How about teaching people to be healthier and stay home when they are sick.
It's a known fact that viruses have the opportunity to mutate and then create variants when they spread from person to person. A vaccinated person is MUCH less likely to get and/or spread the virus than an unvaccinated person. It's a FACT. Yes, it is.
Of course people should stay home when they are sick - not rocket science there. But we have a SAFE and EFFECTIVE vaccine against a deadly virus that continues to kill nearly 10,000 in this country every month (99.5% of whom are unvaccinated). Those who choose not to get it are at least in part responsible for the development of the variants. FACT.
But we have a SAFE and EFFECTIVE vaccine against a deadly virus that continues to kill nearly 10,000 in this country every month (99.5% of whom are unvaccinated).
Tell that to the ones vaccinated snd still masking up and wearing gloves.
Do you wake up in the morning and say a positive affirmation about masks or something?
Never have I ever seen someone so utterly obsessed with a face covering in my life. It's over a year later, masks aren't even mandated in most every place now and here we are listening to this one continue to rattle on about masks. Pathetic.

Yup, and? The difference is that college classes are shorter and some online so not 6 hours a day of non stop mask wearing. I am glad they won’t have to deal with that and feel bad for the kids who might have to.

Masks Optional for Summer School
I hope masks are optional in the fall. Do any of you think the masks affected your children negatively this school year? Over here it has definitely had a negative effect. Not so much academically but emotionally. My child went from loving school to hating it. Maybe it wasn’t just the masks but the whole in school out of school hybrid school. I do know that if masks are required this school year it will be extremely hard after being mask free all summer. The thing that will really anger me is if they make it mandatory here but not in other parts of the country like Texas or Florida. If I knew masks were still going to be a thing for sure next year, I would relocate.

The thing that will really anger me is if they make it mandatory here but not in other parts of the country like Texas or Florida. If I knew masks were still going to be a thing for sure next year, I would relocate.
My kids didn't like them (of course) but they rolled with it, they were just so happy to be back in school all year.
So far, no word on what our district is doing in the fall but I kind of expect that it'll be a last minute decision. I have heard many are opposed and have been pressuring the district to drop the mandate so we'll see.

Hofstra,
Never have i ever seen someone so utterly obsessed about what another person says that they don't care about. It goes both ways hun
Three pages of other posters complaining about psycho VB. Get a clue sweets.
Sad how people, like you, have the time and energy to banter back and forth. All this looks dumb

Same people in your little clique if you actually look at who was “complaining”. I could say the sky is blue and these same people would say I was insane and crazy to say that. Smh
This is such BS...yes, you're a little annoying with the whole "I don't understand why people still wear masks" crusade. But, the majority of people complain about you because you keep proving that you stalk posts/posters. I don't understand what kind of thrill you get from that? I've been on this site for over 10 years and I don't know things about certain posters that you post. It's weird. I can't figure out if you're an old timer who has it in for certain people or a newbie who gets her kicks by being obnoxious to certain people. SMH. Shrug. Hmmmppph.
And if anyone has a little clique- it's you. I can't wrap my head around anyone defending your behavior.

I am 100% convinced that the poster is completely trolling this site. They are probably sitting back and laughing every day. If so... a job well done I say.

Masks Optional for Summer School
Don't want your kids to have to wear masks, anywhere? The answer is get vaccinated, plain and simple. The more people that get vaccinated, the more likely it is that kids won't have to wear masks. Don't like that answer - fine. But if you want a solution, be a part of it and stop complaining.

Yes!!!! Nobody cares about a difference of opinion, everyone is entitled to have their own POV. It's the condescending, passive aggressive, stalking BS that makes her creepy AF and is what causes MANY people to repeatedly go back at her.

I have to say, and I mean no disrespect to WW, but I think you are giving her way more credit than is due. She is hardly condescending (unlike yourself who is constantly calling people "sweetie") and most of the info that you all claim is her "stalking" people, I usually just do a quick search and I come up with whatever info she is referencing. For example the most recent "out of state" thing - do a search for that poster and read her first post and it clearly states where she lives and how she came across the site. This is not rocket science and it's pretty basic internet skills.
