Quarantine
Does anyone know if you are allowed to leave your house to get a covid test without permission if you are under mandatory quarantine? My husband was told he is not to leave the house under any circumstances, but I would think he can leave to test. Yesterday he had a headache but he has only been getting 4-5 hours of sleep a night since being identified as a close contact last Friday so it is most likely stress/fatigued induced. Last night he slept better and no headache this morning. He called the DOH to ask and no one picked up. He’s currently isolating in our house and I think everyone would feel better if he tested. Even if it was positive at this point.

I would absolutely go and get tested. No one is following you around.

Is this a serious question??
Yes, it is. My DH is a rule follower and they told him he can’t leave the house unless it is approved. I wanted to know what others have done. I told him he should/can go.

Re: Quarantine
Yes he can go get tested. However after I tested positive and I still needed to have my kids tested, I paid for someone to come to the house. It was expensive thou. $125 per person for a PCR but you get the results within 24 hours.

Of course he can go out to get tested.
But as a side question, I thought fully vaccinated people are not required to quarantine after exposure anymore so why would the DOH be putting him in a mandatory quarantine?

Approved by WHOM if they don't answer their phones? They won't call you again, just so you know. They call once (at least IME with my child) and they won't know what you do after that.

So they called yesterday and then he went to call them back and no one answered?
They didn't recommend him to get tested?
My child got called and I was in the same room so I heard the entire conversation. They asked them a ton of questions and they had already been tested before they called and then tested after. They did not isolate or quarantine as they were negative.

When my daughter was in quarantine I was told we could take her for testing and medical care if necessary.

Quarantine
When was his exposure? I would want to test for my own sanity. The guidelines are: Vaccinated- no need to quarantine Unvaccinated- quarantine for 10 days- if no symptoms, you're free. If you develop symptoms, you should test when the 10 days is up. Basically, if you test negative during the 10 days, they say its not accurate. I would ask on the call today.

Yesterday he spoke to a screener and counselor not a contact tracer. He got tested on Monday and it was negative after being identified as a close contact of someone on Thursday. You think that’s great, but then he was another close contact with someone on Sunday so the Monday test means nothing. He now feels his throat is weird. Not sore or anything just weird. I told him it could be psychosomatic. He and the other guy were both double masked while traveling since they had both been known contacts of the guy from Thursday and were trying to avoid infecting each other. They tried their best to distance the whole time. They didn’t sit next to each other at all in the airport but did ride in a car together on Saturday for a prolonged period of time. Morons didn’t have the windows opened. Like what is wrong with them?!?!?
Sorry I am just so frustrated.

I have no clue what a screener and counselor is, honestly. I just know my child got a call from a tracer. These 2 slept next to each other all week long on vacation and were with each other almost every day before that. Both got tested when they came back (I picked them up at the airport). We didn't wear masks in the car to the clinic but then when my child's friend tested positive, we all wore masks on the way home in the car. Not too long of a ride but no one spoke lol. Neither of us got sick and like I said my child had tested negative that day and then went a few days later for the better test and still tested negative. Never changed the way they lived as they were negative.
He should just go and go on with life if he is fine. No one can tell you what you can and can't do and no one is coming to your home.

The delta variant is what is concerning me. I know your thoughts about this. My husband will continue to isolate as that’s what is best for our family and community, but I’m hoping to get him to test today. The urgent care by me can have PCR results same day if administered before 12.

I would think he can definitely leave to get the test. I think the screener/ counselor might not have everything right or there was miscommunication.

We both agree that he should be tested so I would go and do that to clear his mind and then he can go about his day if he is negative :)

For ur peace of mind and ur family’s have him tested. If that’s what works for ur family, it’s better knowing for sure and doing the whole quarantining/isolating ritual if he’s actually positive than being negative and missing work when it wasn’t really necessary. If he’s negative, he can save those sick days for when he’s def sick. Maybe if u talk to him this way, he’ll understand where u’re coming from? If he’s worried that he’ll get in trouble for leaving the house, absolutely no one is actually following his steps and whereabouts.

Urgent care says he can get tested tomorrow. I am going to pick up an at home rapid test for him to take today. Yes, I know they’re not as reliable, but if it’s positive at least we can move on from the uncertainty. If it’s negative, we’ll have a more definitive answer with the PCR tomorrow.
Thank you everyone.

Slight update: DOH said he could test today so he did. Results will be back tomorrow. Urgent care also said that the Contact tracer/screener should not have put him on isolation.
