Masks and backyard bbq
Am I crazy? Here’s the situation- we are having some old friends for a bbq on Saturday. People live in different states. We will be outside the whole time. All adults are vaxxed. There will be a number of kids some of whom are too young to mask. One friend has asked if all the others will be masked since they are not vaxxed. We said no, our kids will not wear masks in this situation. Now they don’t want to come. Who’s being unreasonable here?

I have never been to a party, outside or inside that people wore masks. This was before vaccinations too.
I honestly don’t get vaccinated people being worried but if they don’t feel comfortable and you don’t want to wear one then they might want to not come at this time.

I dont think anyone is being unreasonable. You host and do what you think is appropriate. If someone doesn't agree and chooses not to put themselves in a situation that makes them uncomfortable, that's fine. Both viewpoints are valid.

They asked the question and were not comfortable so they declined. No one is being unreasonable.

I agree. People need to make their own choices and be allowed to do so. Neither of you are wrong.

100% agree with this. Everyone is entitled to do what they feel comfortable with. No one is right or wrong here.

As others have said, no one is wrong.
It's only wrong when someone judges or criticizes someone else for their own personal decisions for their family because they are different from their own.

This. Although u might not agree with her, it is her decision to not attend the bbq and there’s nothing wrong there. If she’d have make u all wear masks, then that would have been a problem for me.

It's a personal choice, respect that they don't want to come if they are uncomfortable but I would not force anyone to wear a mask. I would rather not have the BBQ to be honest.

Same - although I feel masks are definitely not necessary for an outdoor bbq - if she is uncomfortable, than she is doing the right thing by not coming.

Yep, I agree. If your friend is expecting you to change the plans and require guests to wear masks, then I would say they are being unreasonable.

You're not crazy. If she isn't comfortable she doesn't have to come. Everyone can do what they want. It's your party, so your rules.

Re: Masks and backyard bbq
I don't think anyone is wrong....your friends have a certain comfort level when it comes to COVID and you have another. No one is wrong.
I do have to say I'm with you though...I won't mask my kids or anyone else but mainly that's because I trust everyone who comes into my home. I think it's a little extra but I could also understand someones hesitancy considering all the breakthrough cases that are happening.

But she shouldn't have to if she doesn't feel comfortable doing it. There is no right or wrong in this situation.
