Summer school / camp
Anyone know if any outbreaks that took place in summer school or camps?
We had one clerical staff member test positive all summer.
Curious if anyone actually saw an outbreak as I get ready to send my kids on a non air conditioned bus and to sit in a non air conditioned classroom for 6 hours with a mask on.

Nope.
My son did 4 weeks of indoor basketball camp. Two at our local high school. Unmasked.
My other son did camp indoors at our daycare - also unmasked, no outbreak.

None by me that I’m aware of. My DD did 8 weeks of full day camp followed by a week of specialty camp and is now in enrichment classes (the life of a child with working parents). They wore masks indoors 100% of the time.
I’m not sure where you’re going with this post but I can tell you I am very happy with my district’s plan for the upcoming school year and I am someone who has never before used the words “my district” and “happy” in the same sentence.

I don’t think you can 100% compare summer to the school year.
We have way more kids in a classroom than any camp my son has ever been to or the summer school classes
My son only did outdoor camp this year but I am still in his old camp FB group and yes they had multiple kids get Covid and multiple times during the summer.

No outbreaks here- my daughter went to three different camp programs the STEM camp she went to for a month was in a school with masks required for all indoors and they did not have any outbreaks. They were indoors about 75% of the time due to the nature of the program. She and all of her fellow campers survived the summer heat with their masks. The other 5 weeks of camp were a mix of indoor and outdoor activities with masks. The kids ready seem to be more flexible than the adults.

We did at camp. It started with an adult and spread to about 6 kids in the same cohort. That is when they mandated masks for all district summer activities. There were none at our ESY school though.

Two camps near me had outbreaks. Both made the local news.

We did. Half day camp. My DS’s counselor tested positive. Then the other counselor tested positive, and 8 of the 12 kids tested positive a few days later.

One of my kids missed a 2-week session of camp due to a few positive cases in her group. My other DD went to the same camp but wasn’t affected.

In the camps where there were outbreaks were masks required for ALL campers and counselors?

Re: Summer school / camp
Our district had a summer support program and in 2 of the classrooms we had positive cases that spread in the class. We were unmasked at first but after that everyone had to wear masks again. No other cases after the masks went back on.
It was the first time in our district that cases spread in the classroom.

Re: Summer school / camp
None at our camp and my understanding is that our school district had none as well. However, there were cases in my town.

The kids didn’t wear masks either for the summer camps we did.

I agree. And school is 90 percent indoors. My daughter is in 9th grade, and some of the classes have 33 kids, and they are SMALL classrooms.
