Re: Storm

I'm in Queens and my immediate area was ok. I walked out of the house and it looked like nothing happened. But driving to work...I could see the Grand Central Parkway from my house and there were buses and trucks just parked...Cars on sidewalks, trees down, streets closed…my whole office was flooded. We have wall to wall carpet and I walked on it and all you see are splashes of water.
What’s nuts is that it’s such a beautiful day today. Mother Nature is a beast.

I'm in Rockland on the NJ border and we are ok but, most of the county is not. Two of the 9 school districts opened for the year yesterday and only one is open today. I haven't gone anywhere (other than to walk one kid to school) as I hear it's still a disaster out there.

We had TONS of rain but fared OK, thankfully. Due to downed trees, flooding and impassable roads around town the first day of school was canceled. That was some storm!!

I was at the US Open. It was crazy. All the trains were cancelled. We had no way home but luckily the people who had been sitting next to us offered us a ride. Thank god because we would have been stuck there until the trains started running again in the morning.

Were you at the match where it kept raining indoors? I was watching on tv - the players looked so pissed (rightfully!)

The other side of our town in NJ has properties that flooded, some areas are without power. We didn't have any issues but it took me 4.5 hours to drive to LI this morning and there were so many cars stranded on the side of the road when crossing over the Throgsneck.

Re: Storm

We had no power for nearly the full day. We are on a mountain, with a downward sloping driveway and a tiny bit of water got into the garage. I was able to mop it up with two towels and then kept my garage open to air out. My parents got water in their basement. My brother got 4 feet of water in his basement. But my in laws were the biggest losers, they had a completely submerged basement 9 feet of water and their car was fully submerged. Also my dad went to the hospital for heart issues. Yesterday was a really tough day.

I had tickets for Wednesday night, but we decided not to go. I was pretty bummed to not go, but after seeing how bad the roads got, I’m glad we decided not to go. I think the ride home (into Suffolk) would have been frightening. Glad you were able to get home safe.

Re: Storm

NJ was hit bad, it was pretty sad yesterday driving around and seeing people on their steps in disbelief with their furniture and items on their lawns/sidewalks.

We had minor flooding at the new house and were very fortunate. The HS football field was pretty much a lake.
