Uber Question
Have any of you called an Uber to pick you up at the airport? Specifically JFK?
I know if you make them wait a few minutes; they start charging extra. By the time you get off the plane and exit the airport; I have no idea how to time that right without the extra charges.
So wanted anyone else's experience... And where do they usually park to meet them at?

Re: Uber Question
I have done it many times. There is a designated area where people wait for Ubers and once you request one, the app system will tell you where to go. It is also safe to assume that, unless you get very very luck, it will be AT LEAST a 5 minute wait between the time you call an uber and the time it arrives.
Generally, I try to call when I am already at the pick up level and then I wait indoors and only come out when the car is almost there.

I typically wait as well when I'm calling an Uber from the airport.

Re: Uber Question
I usually call for the Uber when I'm at baggage claim and see the bags starting to come off the carousel

Re: Uber Question
Thanks all. Will end up using a Car service.
I realized the possibility of an Uber being late or not showing up isn't worth the stress for a flight.

The Uber and Lyft drivers all literally hang out right near the airport, so chances of one not showing up is pretty slim just so you know. I've always called for an Uber or Lyft after we get bags and have always waited like 5 minutes. There was a time we booked car services to Islip airport. They never showed. They were at the airport to pick us up, not at our home, they majorly screwed that up! So a car service isn't always full proof either!

Yeah - we had an issue with a car service picking us up at the airport. The driver tried to get a double fare by taking someone to the airport while picking us up and they were very late to get us - they said they had a flat tire and would be there soon... so they lied, etc... We should've taken an Uber.

The car service we are using is a personal friend. This is all he does. It's a little bit more money; but we know he is very reliable; that is another reason why we went this route.
