Re: Play date drama
My daughter is just turning 7 and she's had her first playdate with a kid from school I didn't actively know. I met the mom a few times before the playdate- walking to/from school. I had the mom's phone number, address, I dropped her off, stayed about half an hour or so and then left and picked her up 2 hours later. I definitely would not let my daughter get in a car with someone who is basically a stranger to an undisclosed address and I would've thought the other mom was weird, seasoned parent or not. I also would not have thought to say immediately that I wanted to stay. I don't think mentioning it the day before or the morning of was weird or deceitful or anything of the like. I just wouldn't have even thought to mention it until then. I've always assumed the first playdate with a new friend you'd stay at least for awhile.

Re: Play date drama
I haven’t read through all the responses but I agree with the OP. Red flags that she wouldn’t give you the address or let you drive your daughter there yourself. Also I wouldn’t leave my 7 year old at someone’s house who I didn’t know. I don’t do drop off play dates. I don’t think you did anything wrong & I do think she behaved strangely.
