hybrid or electric car?

I'm currently saving right now and won't buy for a few years, but which would you recommend: hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or fully electric car? I mostly drive around town so I'm not really worried about travelling long distance without being able to charge.

Is the difference in price tag really worth going fully electric?

I'd also prefer a larger car like a CRV or Rav4 (instead of a Camry-sized car), but definitely don't need anything larger.

hybrid or electric car?

My husband works in green energy and would recommend electric over hybrid.

We have both an all-electric and an electric/gas hybrid. There are pluses and minuses to each.

All electric is a faster, smoother ride. Really nice ride. Depending on how far you drive, you can go several days between charges. Takes longer to charge at a home charger, but faster if you go to a public fast charger. IMO, terrible for road trips. Have to stop and look for a working charger when low and it's not always conveniently located and sometimes puts a damper in the fun and lengthens the trip.

Gas/electric is my car, and it gets about 30 miles to an electric charge. It works for me because that's about a daily round trip to work for me. When I run out of charge, it kicks into hybrid mode and uses the engine and since it's a Hyundai, it's not a powerful engine so it's not great on pickup in hybrid mode. Great for trips though because you don't have to worry about stopping to charge and in Hybrid mode it's amazing on gas. I just drive to and from PA and it used less than a half tank of gas the whole trip. I do charge every night.

Hope that helps!

ETA: we like the comfort of knowing the hybrid is there as well in case of a natural disaster like Sandy where we were without power for almost two weeks. I can't imagine fighting for a public charger in that situation.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering about, and generators are so expensive to keep as a back-up.

I don't think the infrastructure is fully where it needs to be yet for fully electric. I think about long road trips and where you'd charge and how long you'd have to sit there charging. Seems super inconvenient.
I'd do hybrid for now.
Also like another poster mentions- what about in a natural disaster like Sandy.
