Does anyone attend a support group?
I did after both my parent's died... sometimes I think of going back just to meet some more people who can relate... do any of you go?

I almost did- it was specifically for motherless daughters. unfortunately, it fell through. i tried to find another group that was appropriate for me but i couldnt, so i started private therapy. while i feel that 1:1 therapy it is helpful, im still interested in finding a group.

I would be interested in starting a group of some sort if any of you would be interested. I've never really talked about it to anyone but maybe if I was with others who have lost I might be able to actually go through with it.

I would definitely be interested in this.... Beth and a few of the other woman had met for dinner a couple of times and I couldnt make it either times... maybe we should see if we could all try to schedule something again...

I would be interested i am not dealing with my fathers death at all in the right way. I really feel like no one but you all understand what i am going through. I hate when people say it's all going to be ok, and their parents are both still alive.

I would totally be into this. I have thought about it sooo many times in the past but chickend out. I am pretty shy so I didn't know how I was going to do in a group. It would be sooo helpful to me as I suffer in some way every single friggin day.
I think dealing with it better would be a huge weight off my shoulders!!!

By the way, does anybody work in the city or live in the area? I work in Manhattan and live in Brooklyn so it was hard for me to go all the way out on the island when the other meetings took place.
A city thing would be great if anyone is interested.

meeting with beth and pam was really great. i thinkit would be even more helpful if we had a mediator /social worker to give us coping strategies etc... i could call the place that was initially offering that support group. the only problem is that it is in roslyn and it may be too far for some people. i have no problem with traveling to the city. im sure there are many organizations that are looking for people like us....

I am in Smithtown and not very city savvy but Roslyn would be fine. I was thinking that we should just see if a library conference room was available somewhere but if you want a social worker we can see if there are any available. I don't think I could handle going somewhere to eat though because I'm a cryer..lol

I live in Massapequa.... we could even meet at someone's house... mine would be fine, but its kinda far for someone who lives in Brooklyn. I'm gonna search to see what groups there are available, and maybe we could just all join the same one... that might be a little easier... I dont know... what do you all think?

I never have - well, unless you count dinner with Beth and stardiva (Meredith) two times - which was awesome!!!!
I looked into it a million times after my mom died, but mostly my laziness and procratination stopped me.
I have sometimes considered looking into seeing someone - I feel like I am ok, but then sometimes I wonder??

I feel like I'm fine and then there's days like yesterday when talking with someone about my Mom I start bawling out of nowhere. It happens so much.

If you gals ever do a get together I would LOVE to be a part of it. I am always thinking of joining a support group but than don't. Everyone always says it gets easier as time passes, but I'm finding it harder everyday.

I would LOVE to join also. I really think it is time for me to start. My birthday was on Monday and it was my first holiday without my mom...a part of me felt like I just don't even want to celebrate anything anymore. I need to meet more people that understand this...
