Re: Does Alex Rodriguez deserve to be booed
I actually typed a blog about this about a month ago. The numbers are now different but my feelings are still the same:
I am a huge Yankee fan. I mean the type of fan that if you cut me open I'd bleed pinstripes. I have to say that I wish A-Rod would have stayed in Texas. I never liked the trade. I heard all of the pros of A-Rod and how he's the best player in baseball. But A-Rod was never clutch and for years I argued with all types of fans-especially Mets fans-that Jeter was the better player between the 2 and now people finally agree with me. Jeter is one of the best players in the game. Yeah he doesn't hit 40+ homeruns each season. But he does hit for average and in the playoffs that is what you need. If we're in game 7 of the world series, bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, bases loaded, down by a run, I want Jeter up at bat. Screw A-rod and his $25 million.
A-Rod is having a difficult season. His numbers are not as bad as the fans make it sound. But his numbers also don't show you how many times he has not come through when the game is on the line. And his errors alone should send him down to Tampa to learn how to field again. I'm not even going to rant about his throwing error the other night. When A-Rod came to the Yankees we as fans thought, Holy Crap we have one of the best, if not the best, player in baseball. It looked like the Yankees were well on their way to another world series win. But what a lot of people didn't notice is that the Yankees gave up Soriano to get A-Rod. And I'm sorry but how do Soriano's numbers compare to A-Rod right now? .287 average, 30 HR, 61 RBI's and 25 stolen bases. A-Rod? .280 average, 21 HR, 71 RBI's and 9 stolen bases. So Yankee fans, who would you rather have? Just on hitting alone Soriano is the better player. Then look at errors and salary. Soriano is the clear winner here.
So A-Rod, I'm sorry if your feelings get hurt when you get booed. I'm sorry if you feel as if you can't make the fans happy. You wanted out of Texas because you wanted to be on a team that can win the World Series. You know what the problem is? You. The Yankees would be a far better team without you. Let's start seeing you make your 25 million a year. Let's see why you are worth that salary. Then the Yankee fans wont be so quick to boo you. But in 3 seasons here you have yet to show that you are worth the money and even worse you have yet to earn your pinstripes. You are not a true Yankee and I don't know if you ever will be.
Yankee fans- keep booing this ******* until he wins more games for us then he loses for us.

I completely agree with you. I have never been a fan of A-Rod. I think that his numbers (although not lately) are better than he actually is. While Jeter's numbers (again, not lately) don't always do him justice.
Does A-Rod deserve to be boo-d? Absolutely!! I'm sorry, you were brought here to come through in clutch situations and get paid $25MM. It is your JOB to hit the DAMN ball and to make outs!! I'm tired of people complaining that A-Rod is a shortstop, not a 3rd baseman. Well you know what, now he is a 3rd baseman and gets paid an extraordinary amount of money to be one!! Now do the JOB!!!!
