I personally wouldn't "lease" a bag -just like I wouldn't lease a car- but if someone else wants to do it, so be it. I think it's way better than carrying some fakie you bought on the street.
to me....it would be EXACTLY the same thing as carrying a bag that is a fake..
one could try to compare it.
but you can also lease CARS for less then some of those pocketbooks
and yet buying the pocketbook itself...is significantly less then buying that car
i still think it is kinda cheesy..

It's sort of like leasing though, isn't it? Most people lease a car b/c they get bored with cars and need a change or they can't afford to drive the car they're in (that's just my opinion).

I lease a car- not b/c I can't afford it either- I hate when people say stuff like that- I like the fact that I am getting a new car in 36 months- with out having to sell my old one- used cars are not easy to sell IMO
I don't see how you can compare a bag with a car anyway- cars require manitance, gas etc.- this is peice of clothing

I think the concept is a good one, but don't think its for me. I wouldn't like the idea of borrowing a used bag. I honestly rather buy it use it for however long and when I don't want it anymore sell it on ebay and get some of my money back. Probably works out to costing you the same if you used the bag for a few months and you got it brand new not used and don't have to worry about returning it.
eta. I also don't believe in leasing cars and it is the same concept. Spending $$ on something that in the end you don't own. Its a wate of money IMO. You shell out $$ and in the end have no bag to show for it.
i agree!!

I think the idea is genius especially for people who switch their bags often. I was drooooling over the couture section.

Re: Bag, borrow or steal?
Interesting idea, but not really my thing.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to rent some of the less expensive bags.
The couture section isn't big enough (only saw one or two I like), and I think thats a lot of money to shell out for just a week. If you rented one for a couple of months, you'd pay as much as if you bought it. There is a "steal it" option where you can buy the bag you love, but not all are available for purchase, and the rules for it seem a little off to me.
If anyone here has bought a bag after renting it, I'd be interested to hear your opinion. Do you think they offered it to you for a fair price?
There is also a monthly fee, an inital 3 month minimum and a hefty insurance policy.

Re: Bag, borrow or steal?
i think it would be great if you had a special affair to go to. Afterall isn't that what all the celebrities do on Oscar night? Borrow dresses, bags and jewels?
I don't have anywhere to go, so I doubt I would use it, but I can see why people would.
My luck I would forget to send it back and I would get charged extra.

I actually said that (imo) most people lease b/c they get bored (I believe by your definition you fal into that category) OR b/c they can't afford the car they're in. Based on the people I know - those are the two categories *I* see. Personally I don't get how boredom overides not having car payments but that's just me.

Re: Bag, borrow or steal?
When I first heard about this awhile ago, I did the math, and in most cases it makes no sense to me. If you HAVE to have the IT bag of the week, then I guess this is for you but at those rates you're probably still better off buying it and then reselling it on ebay.

Re: Bag, borrow or steal?
I think it's a cool idea and an easy way to always have the latest bag, but I agree....after doing the math it doesn't make much sense.

CHEEEEEEEEEEEEESY
if you can't afford the bag...YOU can't afford it
renting them is BEYOND cheesy imo
AGREED!!! Red, I'm thinking I agree with a LOT of things that you post, lol...
I would never rent anything like that! I can't even buy fake bags - either I save up for the real ones, or I don't buy them at all...

Nah, I don't agree with that. I lease cars ALL the time not because I can't afford them, but because I like the fact that I am able a new car every 2 years. I get sick of them easily and I like having something new.
Renting bags and accessories is cheesy IMO, and that goes for everyday people like us or when the celebrities do it. Again, JMHO.

yep I get bored- and the cars I like become very expensive to maintain after 5 years
cars depricate- so I don't mind always having a car payment-
I will never ever buy a car- ever- we only bought my husbands car b/c it's actually will hold it's value b/c there were only 200 made - and when it's paid off- he will keep it and buy another one ( he bought a pathfinder in 2003 and we are trying to sell it now- I would rather just give it back- it's annoying)
but a bag payment- no thanks

Seriously, a car is much more $$$ than these bags and for $175 a month to be able to borrow a bag? I think that is a bit crazy . . .
