Ok so here is my question about madonna. why was it ok for angelina but not madonna. Please don't start drama over this!
I think that the media is latching on to this because it seems like she's trying to buy the baby instead of waiting the requisite 18 months to file everything legally.
And Britney - she could either encourage her husband be a better father to all of his own children (stop going to Vegas on your wife's dime) or we can hope that if the story is true that she'll give a good home to whomever she adopts.
NOW I know rosie is friends with madonna.... BUT
Rosie said yesterday on the view that Madonna had to go through the fingerprinting and the backround checks. BUT there is not waiting list for that country.
Hmmmm...I won't claim to know anything about the adoption process in Malawi or Madonna's case (I'm going by what I read on blogs) but if there isn't a waiting list, then maybe they are just trying to generate drama to sell magazines.

The controversy stems from an 18 month residency requirement that Malawi has for potential adoptive parents. She is not living in the country for the 18 months but the adoption is far from finalized. Her family will be monitored, as are all foreign adoptions, usually the social workers visit the home prior to the children arriving.
Many foreign countries have some sort of temporary residency requirement in order to adopt. I know many Russian republics require the adoptive parents to visit Russia at least twice for extended periods (several weeks, about a month or a bit more each time). I researched Russian adoptions during our infertility issues. Many others have age restrictions or health exams that parents must pass. Many countries will not allow single parents or gay parents to adopt. All silly IMO as they kids need loving homes.
There are literally millions of orphaned children around the world and it is sad that all of the bureacratic red tape delays and often prevents them from finiding loving homes.
This boy has the chance of a lifetime that he never would have received had his father kept him. I think it was a very selfless act on behalf of the father. The father by the way is a wood carver and didn't make enough to even buy food for his son.
My family has been blessed with 2 cousins from South Korea and one from Guatemala. It takes about THREE years after they get here for the adoption process to be completely finalized and they are swor in as US citizens.

I don't think Madonna was being trendy.
I think Britney should look out for Shar's kids and encourage her DH to see them a little more than her does before she goes and gets some more.
I think it's because Angelina is more of a humanitarian, and has actually gone to those coutries as an ambassador. Has Madonna done anything like that? Bottom line, Fad or Not, a child is benefitting from it and that's all that matters.
