Maternity Clothes?
Just out of curiosity, when did you ladies start buying maternity clothes and when did you start wearing them? I went looking this weekend but I'm not sure when I should start buying things. I'm 6 weeks but my regular pants are already a little uncomfortable in the waist. Is that normal? I've not been eating any differently.

Re: Maternity Clothes?
this past weekend, i went out and bougth a ton of stuff because nothing but a few pairs of jeans were fitting me.
a lot of the maternity pants though are still to big on me, so i bought one of those bella bands that helps hold them up.

Re: Maternity Clothes?
So do you think it's okay to buy now or am I rushing? I guess it's probably a personal preference. I'm just so excited!!! I tried on pants one size larger and they're too big.

Re: Maternity Clothes?
IMO...u should wait. I didnt show until week 16 (not that its your situation) but you dont want to keep buy maternity clothes in every size. When I started to show I bought large and it fit through out the whole pregnancy. I would wait as long as u can for now. 6 weeks is kinda early IMO.

Re: Maternity Clothes?
In the beginning when I was uncomfy in the waist, I would either wear sweats or drawstring pants instead of jeans. For work, some days I just put a rubberband on the button (and through the eyelit) and left them open a little.

Re: Maternity Clothes?
For my first, I bought a few nice pieces in the size above me and that got me through the first trimester plus some. WHat was great about them was I could use them before I lost the baby weight, but didn't feel bad that I was still in maternity!

Re: Maternity Clothes?
I bought some stuff last week at 10 weeks. Luckily I inherited a LOT of stuff but I haven't worn them yet. I am not QUITE ready so I am wearing clothes from when I was a little heavier for now. I figure by 14 weeks I will be in maternity pants at least.

Re: Maternity Clothes?
Just a recommendation- I bought a lot of shirts at Express. Their sweaters were so long, that I wore them from 3 months to 9 months. I even have some going out tops from there with empire waists that I still wear- even though I am completely back to my pre-pregnancy clothes.

Re: Maternity Clothes?
I started wearing maternity pants early on too... maybe around 7-8 weeks. I was pretty bloated, and the maternity pants were way more comfortable for me than trying to squeeze into my regular ones! I bought the bella band, but never used it, I didn't love it, but that's just my own personal preference, I've seen that a lot of other girls here love it. In fact, if anyone wants mine, its completely unused, let me know!!!

Re: Maternity Clothes?
I bought some maternity clothes pretty early on into the pregnancy. My first trimester was over the summer, and although I wasn't really showing yet, I was incredibly bloated and my clothes weren't fitting right. I bought a lot of stuff from Old Navy. Some regular clothes in a larger size and some maternity as well. I found the maternity clothes to be incredibly comfortable so it was worth it to me. But I would start with an inexpensive place because chances are you will need a larger maternity size later in your pregnancy. Old Navy, Maternity Works (in the Source Mall), Motherhood, and even H & M have resonably priced maternity clothes.
ETA: All of my friends told me that your waist is the first thing to go during pregnancy and they were right, at least for me!

Re: Maternity Clothes?
I started wearing them at 6 weeks b/c my regular pants were getting too tight and when I sat down, it actually kind of hurt. I feel a little silly and the butt of the pants are too big, but it beats the uncomfortable feeling I had in my regular pants.
Is this your first baby? This is my second so I "popped" out faster.

Re: Maternity Clothes?
This is my first baby. I tend to gain weight first in my stomach so maybe that has something to do with my discomfort. I've not gained any weight but I can just see my pants getting more and more uncomfortable as the months go on. I just didn't know if it was silly for me to be thinking of maternity clothes now. Thanks ladies!!!

Re: Maternity Clothes?
I started buying stuff at about 16 weeks, but didn't actually wear any (except jeans) until around 20 - 22 weeks.
I wore my regular clothes as long as possible - I used bella bands!

Re: Maternity Clothes?
I bought a pair of jeans at 12 weeks but I am still wearing my tops, with long tanks underneath.
My friend sent me a HUGE box of her stuff and I've started to wear that (I'm almost 14 weeks now). She is a little smaller than me, so I will probably have to get some clothes toward the end.
I actually haven't gained weight, I've lost 13 lbs, but my belly is starting to show now.
